c-section scar, tips to heal it

Can anyone give me advice.
I had a rather heavy handed midwife who ripped my scar dressing off on day 1 and I have had a struggle with the scar since. Most of it has managed to heal itself, but there is one section that is red and has oozed a bit and today I got a bit of blood on my swab dressing that I put on to air it.
My question is can anyone think of anything to help heal it? I try to air the scar at night, and in the day wear the good old Mava pants to air it and every other day wear a swab dressing to try to air it further and soak up any excess coming from it.
My HV says she doesn't believe it is infected, I don't run a temperature (although get the day/night sweats) and it isn't getting worse, just isn't healing particularly quickly.
I have a toddler, so doing nothing isn't an option as I have to walk to collect from preschool, and I have to entertain when he is home. I try to rest where I can but the day does disappear very quickly.
It will be three weeks this friday.
Thanks

I had a similar patch after my c section 4 years ago and my midwife told me to use gauze. Just put a clean bit on morning and again mid afternoon, and keep it well aired in the evening if you can. It helps to keep it clean and dry and0

if i was you id be inclined to get it checked out, just to put your mind at ease, not sure if theres anything you can put on it,letting air get to it is probably best thing:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

Mine was like this (I'm 7 weeks since the op) but time has been best for it. I found making sure I washed it thoroughly with loads of water in the shower then aired it dry (use a hairdryer if you like!) helped loads. I'm sure in a few weeks it will be much better but do get it checked by the GP if you're not 100% happy.0

Would recommend going to see the doc. My wife's scar took 16 weeks to heal properly (burst open on day 5 - don't ask:eek: ).
Towards the end there was a little bit that was stubborn and the docs gave her some special cream to help dry it out0 -
I don't know how to heal it and you musn't put anything on until it heals but... once it has, you can apply vitamin E oil to help it fade. Just buy the best quality vitamin E supplement capsules you can afford, pierce them and rub it on. But not until it heals!

I had the same problem after my c-section. My scar still hadn't started healing properly after 7 weeks, the midwife or the health visito wasn't worried about it but i was! I couldn't move and it felt like i was going to rip open! I went to the docs in the end and it turned out to be a stitch abcess which was cleared up by antibiotics.
The other thing is help it heal is to place a clean hanky over the scan to stop any rubbing and I also bought lavender oil to put on the hanky as it helps healing. Healed up quite quickly after that.:dance:Sealed Pot Challenge #338:dance: £1170 to go to be debt free0 -
Hi,
I had a cs 9 months ago. I found that washing it regularly with warm water (I used to use the shower head) and then drying it by dabbing it with a clean towel and then using a hairdryer on the cool setting was best for me.
After the 1st day the dressing was taken off and I didn't have anything on it after that. I just wore massive cotton knickers and that also helped to support my tummy a bit as they came up quite high on my tummy. Also try to wear loose clothing which doesn't rub on your scar. I lived in my big comfy PJs at home and wore maternity drawstring linen trousers when I had to go out (not very practical in November but I was comfy).
Also if I were you I'd get the doctor to look at it, it's better to be safe than sorry. I think your GP would have a better idea about it than your HV.

I had a jolly lovely stitch abscess that started as a red oozing bit. Three lots of anti-bugs later it healed. If it starts to get really itchy or whiffs a bit then see your GP.
Wish you better soon.
You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Sorry to hear the cs not healing well - air drying is good - If you have an 'overhang' (sorry if TMI) you need to make sure that you air dry very well at least once a day if you are in a rush or having a hot sweat you can hurry it along with a fan or a hairdrier.
When my second cs started oozing I used tea tree oil solution to wipe over before air drying and it healed really quick, but get a midwife/nurse to take a peek.Proud to be sorting my life out!
