Credit Card for Internet

After 27 years, my trusty credit card with a £500 limit and paid back in full every month is being discontinued by my bank.
:(

I'm struggling to find something similar out there. I really don't want a credit limit of much more than I have already in case something goes wrong. CC companies seem to want to give me vast sums of credit and don't want to reduce it to anywhere near that value.

Any suggestions?

I'd ignore what credit limit they gave you and stick to your own £500 personal limit. What could go wrong if you exercise a bit of self control??

I think the OP wants a low limit so if Internet fraud happen the loss cannot be more then £500

Exactly. In the last few years, the card has been replaced 4 times due to fraudulent activity. Never more than a few pounds. I'm careful of the internet sites I use it on, but if I do have to go to a site I'm not familiar with, then it's not the end of the world if something goes wrong.
Apart from the internet, I'll use this card at machines that can easily be tampered with, such as the rail ticket machines.
I rarely spend more than £150 a month.

You're not liable for fraudulent use, so the limit is irrelevant.
  • I use a pre-paid card for internet shopping.

I top it up immediately before buying something, and the balance at other times is seldom more than about £10.

Not being linked to my bank account (like a Debit Card), or a Credit account (like a Credit Card), a fraudster can only steal what's on the card.

Could try aqua card, they give low limits, and I think they still have a card that pay 0.5% cashback.

If you've lost money to card fraud several times I really suggest having your computer properly checked for malware and use better websites

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

True, but it is still stressful when it's getting sorted out. I would prefer not to have that stress.

I like the protection the CC gives me if I'm buying anything significant and there are issues with it / delivery.

All up to date. Twice it has been personnel that work for the companies I've bought from and twice it's been the Rail Ticket Machine which has been altered. As it's an unmanned station there's not a lot of choice.
