Use Clarity Card whilst in UK to buy Euros?

I am aware that I can use my card in Spain, to get a good rate from the hole in the wall.

However, as I need about 3000 Euro whilst there, I do not wish to max.my limit each day for about a week.

I called into my local UK branch of Halifax, and told them I wished to buy the Euros using my Clarity Card, but although they could order them, they were offering just the ordinary High Street rate.

So, is there a facility to buy in the UK, with the enhanced Clarity rate, collecting at my local Halifax branch;or a home delivery with signature?

Thanks in anticipation.

    No.

Have you asked about an increase in your daily limit?

Many thanks for your quick reply.

I have not asked for an increase, preferring to take the euros with me.

You only get the foreign currency benefits of the Clarity card when using it abroad.

If you want to purchase euro within the UK try the Travel Money Max link in the main MSE site for a competitive rate.

Clarity doesn't have enhanced rate. It just uses the Mastercard rate when you withdraw abroad. You can't buy over the counter at the Mastercard rate. You just get whatever rate the bank/forex bureau is offering at that time.

Does all the €3000 have to be in cash. Can't you pay some of it by card?

If you do take that sort of amount in cash you need to make really sure your insurance cash limit is sufficient. Most standard policies only cover a few hundred £s.

Some of the Euro ATMs in the UK may allow you to use the Clarity card as if you were in a Eurozone country. I'm not sure which ones though - I'm fairly sure the Raphael's Bank ones (the ones at various tube and train stations) will force you to convert via GBP. There used to be one in the City of London that worked for this, but it's gone now.

If departing from Stansted, Gatwick or Southend airports you can use your Clarity to withdraw euros at the MasterCard rate from a Moneycorp multi-currency ATM, making sure that you select 'Without Conversion' when presented with the choice on-screen. There is no other possibility for this within the UK.
