Anyone used Gigaclear?

Gigaclear are installing in my village at the moment, but although seemingly very fast (50Mb compared with my current 1.5) it is much more expensive (£39/month plus I'd have to get land line). I would be happy to pay a bit more for 5-10Mb as I can't imagine I would make much use of 50 - I don't want to get films or music - but the 50 is all they do.
Does anyone have experience of the company?

I know they are setting it up in quite a few rural places, there must be quite a few with it by now, but as you say, not cheap. The other option is mobile broadband with MiFi placed at a window.0

£39 for 50 Mbps seems good.
Also rural. We are on a similar service but can get away with paying for 10Mbps down/2 Mbps up @ £25pm.
Once out of our adsl [6 Mbps] contract I'll up the speed of the link above to 20 Mbps, cancel the landline and port our number to VOIP. Can the TV license [use online services e.g. netflix, prime, catchup, youtube etc...] as well and you'll be no worse off.
Both connections currently go into a dual wan load balancing router to keep things simple and works well

Jeep junkie yes it is a good price if you do all those things! I wouldn't be without a land line, old fashioned I know but I don't like the 'feel' of mobiles for actual conversation - I pretty much only use mine for texting and taking photos. Gigaclear did mention a VOIP service, but you have to pay for that too - Vonage quotes £11 per month. So that makes the whole package a ball park figure of £50/month which is nearly double what I pay now, for something I am unlikely to appreciate.
I don't have any paid-for TV other than the licence of course, and can't imagine sitting in front of a computer watching a film or, dare I say, Strictly! I have been watching a lot of the olympics in my study, where the PC is, and also a bit on the laptop, but I wouldn't like to do it as a routine. I guess you get used to it, or some people have a Smart TV but they are all so huge and we have a small lounge, it would look ridiculous!Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

Totally understand. Our 6Mbps plusnet is generally sufficient, at the moment, but took the view that the community scheme is vital for the future. At some point 6Mbps will be insufficient. Cheers0 -

Thanks, sorry didn't mean my post to be a long rant against you - I think it is indicative of how much I'd like slightly faster internet but the frustration that it seems to be all or nothing (or rather, 1.4 or 50MBps). I think I will still stick it out with what I've got and see what happens. At least Gigaclear are putting a connection point outside every house in the village, so it would be no problem to change my mind if I find any special offers.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
