Forget all paints except Johnstones Aqua.

Look. I'm a die hard oil based nerd but given the crap served up today this stuff is fantastic

Dries in 1 hour or so, is super impact resistant, has no decernable odour, it just the future of painting.

And again forget the carp the sheds sell, it doesn't flow and holds every brush mark. This stuff doesn't.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Nice to see another forum member trying to offer OP useful advice, rather than being a troll.

So, anyway, I re did with crown satinwood water based.

It has been a quick job start to end, zero weekend, trips and wasted money in homebase.

    The satinwood definitely spread better.

As I say, no prep in terms of sanding and undercoat... don't have a sander for the former or time for the latter given I've been non stop recently.

I'm hoping I've got away with it. On the doors that I'd used the gloss the day before, I went straight over with satinwood. Things were looking a bit patchy etc, so later applied second coat. The doors where I hadn't put on gloss, I went straight on with satin. Absorbed a bit better.

Will see the results in the next day or two. It won't be a pro finish, but if it looks ok, I'm happy.

Ps think I got some satinwood on the laminate in places...my flat is a tip with moving stuff around and also repainting kitchen. Is white spirit or sugar soap best for water based sateen removal?

Pleased to hear you are having success.

Now you have the DIY bug, I feel sure this will be the first of many home improvements. May I suggest for your next paint job. You very lightly sand the surface as this will improve the key.
