TalkTalk

I've been a customer of TalkTalk for a couple of years now and pay my full line rental and calls to them, however, I was under the belief that it was a BT line I held.

I wanted to switch to Sky's 3 for £26 but sky informed me that my phone number came up as cable instead of BT (i kept an old NTL number when I switched to BT, I then switched to talktalk after that). So I rang talktalk and they told me it was a bt line. I rang bt to see what they could do and they told me that it is BT openreach and not BT and that talktalk is completely in charge of the line and BT just service it.

Fine, I thought. I signed up for Sky tv only and was then going to switch to talktalk phone and free broadband for £20 (which would work out the same as the original sky offer anyway).

So, I rang talktalk and asked them to upgrade me to that offer. They told me that the number was coming up as being a cable number and they would have to contact head office to do anything. Even though I pay talktalk my line rental and you had to have a bt line to get talktalk they won't upgrade my account because my number is a cable number.

That was more than a month ago and I havent heard anything since. Has anyone else had experience of this kind of thing? Im pretty confident that as im on a normal call package with talktalk I should be able to switch to a more expensive package with free broadband without a problem but that doesnt appear to be the case and ive wasted a fortune in call charges trying to ring people to sort this out, they were meant to be calling me back and I cant afford to keep ringing them. Any suggestions?

It sounds like some database has got some duff data.
That's the sort of thing that can prevent CS people from fixing it!

I'd either try writing a letter - a bit of paper often has more impact.

You could try what I did once.
Since talktalk are part of Carphone Warehouse, go to cpw.co.uk.
Find the 'contact us' page and look for the 'email the CEOs office' option.

I had a problem with e2save and, using this route, got it sorted.
I just switched to talktalk BB and it's working well.
