What compensation do you think I deserve?

Just over a week ago I ate out at a popular Italian chain restaurant. I have coeliac disease so ordered their gluten free pizza. I checked twice when I ordered that she'd got that it was gluten free.
When it arrived, I was certain it wasn't so checked again. I was told it was. I also checked halfway through eating it and was reassured it was fine.
In total I checked 4 times and every time was told it was gluten free.
Anyway, a few hours after leaving the restaurant I was very violently ill and was up all night being sick (somewhat annoying as I was on holiday staying in a very pricey hotel!).
I contacted the restaurant and after ten days they called me today and have admitted that they gave me a normal pizza and that the staff were dishonest about it.
They have said they want to 'make it up to me'. I said I'm not interested in vouchers as I don't want to visit again and they asked how I feel I should be compensated.
I am so angry and upset about what happened, I've only recently started feeling better (Coeliac disease is an auto immune disease, not an allergy, so my body attacks itself when I eat gluten).
I would love some advice on what compensation you think I deserve. It's so hard just to pluck a figure from thin air!
Thanks so much

Cost of night's stay at hotel and double the cost of the meal?If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

£30-£50 .
Any more and you may need to go down the legal route .0 -
Not what you want to hear but if I had Coeliac disease the last thing I would order when I was out would be a Piaza.
No matter who promised what.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Well as it's ruined your evening then I'd be asking for a full refund of the meal and hotel stay as a minimum.
The fact that they've admitted that the staff acted dishonestly, rather than as a simple mistake, could cause them difficulties should you go down the legal route.0 -
I think you deserve as much compensation as it takes to close this criminal business down. They clearly wanted you to have an adverse reaction to their awful food.0

Why? Lots of restaurants offer gluten free options, so the pizza base is just made with a rice flour or similar.
I would be asking a refund of the meal at the very least, or perhaps ask them to rebook the night at the hotel.
More importantly, i would want to know WHY you were repeatedly lied to, and what has happened to the members of staff who lied e.g. Sacked, retrained etc...
If they could lie about something being gluten free, then let's hope the don't lie about something having nuts...Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Why would you check 4 times? And how would the manager or who ever contacted you know they lied? They would have genuinely believed it was gluten free because the chef said so. Is this another compensation wind up thread? seems to be a lot of these about now.0

As a coeliac myself I can assure you that a pizza is actually an easy thing to get right as it is a single item. The hardest meals to trust are those where there are a lot of different items on the plate - a traditional Christmas dinner for instance is almost impossible to easily eat out.
OP I would suggest at least the meal cost, although you might want to do a Google search for the Jamie Oliver restaurant that served normal pasta to a coeliac.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It does astound me though, having a friend who's a coeliac, how much ignorance there is around the subject. I'd be scared to eat out at all, as a result of seeing a similar incident with my friend.
I'd avoid eating out at a chain( I do normally anyway).
I think you'd just have to assume they are all idiots and phone ahead every time.0
