even on the "free" car parks you could have overstayed, or not parked within the bay markings , or failed some other "rule" , they all vary but the sc@mmers still try to find ways of sending you these massive invoices demanding payment

you probably didnt break any rules on overstay etc so may not get any more, but bear in mind that you might do

in future, check the signs and obey the rules, even on so called "free" car parks

proof of patronage of places like asda , aldi etc are also good to get cancellations, so using cards in store etc

We read every other car park signage except Aldi, Bangor due to me being hypo which left us running late for the ferry.

We were within the timeframes stipulated, parked within bay markings and kept all other car parking receipts and shop receipts.

I do hope this is the only Parking Notice Charge we get because we are always so careful but I happened to have to treat a sudden hypo (which I don't normally get) and this is what happens.

But none of it matters. You could have fifty private PCNs and remain untouchable due to your NI location. Be grateful that the POFA does not apply in NI; keepers cannot be held liable by these scumbag firms.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I am grateful. I am glad that parking in Northern Ireland is more straight forward - in most locations it is either free for a certain length of time or you pay a fee for x amount of hours.

Both emails have been responded to this morning and both want a copy of the parking charge notice.

.... or you get PEA (Parking Enforcement Agency) on your tail, trying to screw you over for £100. PEA is nothing more than a Northern Ireland version of a GB PPC, but much more ignorable.

DVLA have responded and here is a copy of their email,

"It may help if I explain that the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, can be used to manage private parking in England and Wales on relevant land (as described within the Act itself). Where the keeper lives outside of these areas, parking companies can still quote this Act, providing the event occurred in England or Wales. Where the parking event occurs outside of England & Wales or on land that is not deemed relevant, the Act cannot be used.

As this event occurred in Wales, the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 can be quoted and utilised.

I hope this information helps to explain the situation.

    Kind regards".

Two weeks later and no outcome yet. They sent another letter to pay the bill but that was it.
  • Hi all
I have a case where I parked in Aldi and stayed 2hr10. I am genuine in saying I never noticed the signs stating maximum 1hr30 stay. I did shop in the store on this visit and I am a regular customer to this store. I have appealed to PE and given evidence of my purchase in store with bank statements. Appeal has been rejected so I'm now wondering what to do?
    Any advise.
