Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
NSD today but at a cost, because I could do nothing or go anywhere with this swollen hand hot and throbbing from the insect bite. Popped in to see my nurse friend who gave me an ice pack, helped a little, and a couple of antihistamine tablet, no use because the leaflet had a contraindication which applies to me.

Ah well, at least the NSD and time with my friend are positives.

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Another £24.21on this weeks shop at Mr L. Although I'm surprised it's that high as no meat, booze or cleaning stuff! Mostly veg, tea bags and stocked up on butter before they follow suit and up the price.

Anyway, that takes us to £104.69/£140. Hopefully we make it but it's been harder than expected!

A spend of £9 this morning at L!dl, mainly veg but also 2 packs of the meatballs they have reduced.

Not doing too bad and I'm on annual leave this week so I have more time to use things up that are lurking in the back of the cupboard.
    £36/£240

Oops.. forgot about the £8 spent in the Iceland food warehouse yesterday. I shouldn't be allowed in there.. I get excited at the random items and buy them for the novelty! Not very MSE!

    So we're actually at £112.69/£140 :(
  • Picked up milk as expected for £1.05 .

Now £49.48/£200. I've the delivery tomorrow due and then one more shop after that for this month I think. I'm really pleased with how we are getting on, but it is probably the novelty of the first month and the backlog in the freezer and cupboards.

Nipped to Lidl this morning with my list and picked up enough to last me until Thursday. I am away next weekend with DD, so will be shopping on thursday to pick up a few bits to see DS1 & 2 through the weekend while I am away.

Meal plan is laid out for the next four days and I am gradually dwindling down the stocks. Made a two lasagnes on Friday and a Beef Stew yesterday, which was delicious. Second lasagne in freezer along with 3 portions of stew. Managed to get to 6 NSD's so far this month, and now hoping to have a few more this coming week.

    Plans for this week:

    Tonight - Pizza/use up night
Monday - Chicken & Ham Pie
    Tuesday - Curry
    Wednesday - Roast
    Thursday - Cottage Pie

    Spends so far:

    1st - Tesco - £44.18
    2nd - Lidl - £35.45
    3rd - Sainsburys - £8.70
    3rd - Tesco - £51.67
    4th - NSD
    5th - NSD
    6th - Lidl - £17.97
    6th - Sainsburys - £7.94
    7th - NSD
    8th - One Stop - £1.00
    8th - One Stop - £1.30
    9th - NSD
    10th - Lidl - £20.83
    10th - Tesco - £5.68
    11th - NSD
    12th - NSD
    13th - Lidl - £11.58

    So total spend so far : £206.30/£400 (£193.70 remaining) and 6 NSD's

    Have a good sunday!
    November NSD's - 7

    Moreishons £15.24
    Aldy £14.60
    A$da £1.42
    £153.29/£350 Nov

I've been put off aldy shopping in the past, due to lack of delivery service, and feeling lost and anxious when I visited the store.
Now my hubby is at home full time we are having another bash. Searching online, with a calculator, menu plan and notepad by my side feels much easier, and I can take my time and adapt the MP to suit any offers available etc.
So I checked the prices, and created a split list with Moreishons, then used the list generator on mysupermarket to print out the exact Aldy item names and prices for clarity.
My hubby was then able to visit both shops in a round trip, which included other errands (to save time and fuel). To our surprise he was able to find almost everything in Aldy without help, and then got a friendly assistant to point out the spices.
Maybe once he has become familiar with the layout, we can visit together to get me used to the place.

I've also been putting Franalamadingdong 's idea to work, of involving our son more. It's tough to get food ideas from him, but I am persisting. He has even started coming up with money saving ideas for other parts of our budget, with an end of month takeaway as incentive if we can come in under budget* on our food bill this month (*by at least the cost of the treat).
Target £80 per week groceries, household and cleaning for four adults.
