Today I bought Milk, Peanut Butter, Cheese, Teabags and Bread. Spent 8.96, have 20.73 remaining of this months target budget. I realised this month my budget actually finishes a day early on the 25th due to my payday ending on a sunday, so have a tiny amount of breathing space.

I'm really sorry but I've forgotten who suggested I do a weeks budget, my apologies! What I do is because neither my OH or I drive and we live far from big supermarkets meaning we can't get to the cheaper goodies easily, we do a BIG food shop at the start of the month with a month's supply of freezer, store and tinned food stuff. We then buy some fresh food as well, and it is after that point we divide the food budget into weeks, so it is after we buy the months worth of food we switch to week budgets, so we kinda do both.

Have approximately 7 quid a week left now.

OH kindly offered to pop to Mr S on the way home to pick up a sweet potato for dinner.

He came back, having spent £20.40, with said potato, olive oil, butter, bacon and a bottle of gin!!! I'm going to Mr L tomorrow for the weekly shop and he knew that

Slowly, I have a similar habit of buying YS because it is discounted, but it ended up I had more food than we could eat! Probably adding to the crazy stockpile we have!

It's my hoarder mentality. I find it easier to glance ONLY. Then - if I spot anything that I would actually use if it was full price - I will consider it. Rather like shopping in the after-Christmas Sales.

  • My budget will cover all food and drink consumed in the house, otc medication, toiletries, cleaning materials and most snacks and drinks consumed away from home.
My month will run from 29th October to 25th November, my budget that i'm hoping to not go over is £280 so far i have spent £73.17.

By some miracle I came under budget by £71.61 in October's challenge, I am putting the remaining money aside to pay the wholesalers.

    Starting November with
    Grocery budget £280
    Wholesaler budget £71.61

End of week one and we have spent £87.41, more than I would have liked to but we have planned meals for the next week for which we have everything including milk and we make bread when we need it. So the only thing I can invisage us needing before next Friday is fruit depending how much everyone eats between now and then.
    Spends to date:
    Grocery budget £87.41/280 remaining £192.59
    Wholesaler budget £71.61
Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

Picked up some yogurt and bananas for breakfasts, some pitas and cheese to make pita pizzas (already had YS ham, sauce, veg), onions for tomorrow's curry, and broccoli and sausage for Sunday's pasta dish. Needed eggs and bread for lunches, and that should last us the weekend. Spent ~£12 on food and £6 on drink, bringing the total to £39.12/£290

YAY second consecutive NSD! Tomorrow likely to spend some money because I have two co op £1 off £5 vouchers they I don't want to expire, so will get either some offer, or YS or something durable.

    Off to change my sig.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

So far I've spent £5.20 this week for food at work...I did take lunch with me all this week but ended up working late a couple of nights and got so hungry I had to buy sandwiches (I did then also eat what I had planned for tea when I got home, so at least it wasn't wasted :rotfl:).

The rest of our meals over the last week have been from the last of Octobers grocery shops so no other spend apart from that, and we're off to a friends house for dinner tonight and family tomorrow night so it should be a low spend weekend :D

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

My first spend day of the month, and spent £8.45 in Tesco. Brought mostly everyday value stuff, so actually got quite a lot for my money. Most expensive thing was £2.50 on some snack-size Peperamis. Perfect for lunchboxes, and the Tescos own version just is nowhere near as nice.
Because it's fun to have money!
