Hope you get the damp problem clarity to then move forward on this... Hopefully your parents will be fineDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thank you all for the comments. I have a roofer friend so will ask him if he has any time to have a look around for me.They will be arriving tomorrow while I am out at work, I am sure it will all be fine. I am really sensitive to it but I am sure it is worse than when they have been here previously. I will open the window again until I head out, my mum feels the cold so it should hopefully be a bit warmer later.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

The second damp survey is happening tomorrow, I am interested to see what he says.
I have just come back from a week in the sun and back to a PB win of £100! I feel rested but tired from a late flight. I am not back in work until Tuesday so hopefully I will feel better by then.
I came up with an aim for the garden this year. It will involve me working on a lot of compacted ground so not an easy job but I know what I want the end result to be so hopefully that will help.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

All the best projects start with a plan
Nice wins - a week in the sun and a PB one too. Hope flight recovery goes well.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I felt so much more at ease with the guy who did today's survey than the last one. We discussed the issues and he has made suggestions, I should get his report early next week. His recommendations won't require me moving out for a couple of weeks or parting with a crazy amount of money. I don't know what time frame his company work to but if the work can be done before the summer I will be happy as that is when I intend to decorate 2 of my rooms. When I have some time, I am going to start stripping the wall paper in the bedroom that has the worst problem and then I can start prepping the walls etc. I have the details of a plasterer so will get in touch with him soon too.
I am starting to believe that this is the year that I can start decorating!MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I am impressed. The surveyor said I would have his report early next week, I received it and hour ago! It is a third of the price of the other one and I feel more confident that their proposal will help. I will email tomorrow to find out what timeframe they work to as I have some things I need to do before they can start.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Trying not to let my normal kick in so I have emailed the surveyor back to ask when work might be done so I can come up with a plan. I have also emailed the roofer I used when I first moved in to get some advice on a couple of bits the surveyor picked up on. I need to get a quote for the plastering work I want doing in the two rooms I plan to decorate but don't know if this will need to be done after the anti-condensation work is done or not so will ask that once the surveyor gets back to me.
I have Monday off as my last day of leave before I go back to work. I would like to get into the garden but the weather forecast suggests that might not be possible to I am going to try and motivate myself to make a start on stripping the wallpaper in the back bedroom.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Go you! You have a plan and you have made a start. Something I am finding helpful is a list of jobs that need doing. Very few of mine are getting crossed off despite the work being done because I keep finding other things that need doing but the list is keeping me motivated.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

For the first time since I ditched $ky just over 2 months ago I am nearing the data limit on my phone. I am hoping it is a one off and I can just top up for this month but I will need to keep an eye on it and change my plan if this becomes a regular thing. I can't work out what I have done differently over the last 3 weeks.I am going to start stripping the wallpaper in the back bedroom this afternoon. I have given myself the target of one wall and will aim to get everything off. I am feeling a little overwhelmed by the task but I know it isn't difficult and I am more than capable of doing it.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200
