Last night I learnt on Martin's programme that you can subscribe to single sports channels on $ky and a bit of research says up to 3 channels, I have the sports package but I only watch 3 channels so I willbe researching this today and find out what the difference in cost might be.  With $ky due to restart the paused subscriptions part way through the month because football is restarting this may be good for me financially as I only watch f1, cycling and winter sports and as they aren't starting up yet it might mean those channels don't start yet.

Thinking about how I can trim the phone/internet/temelvision budget more as this is my most expensive outlay other than the mortgage and council tax, how many of you have a phone line and/or pay for calls on it?  I don't use my landline but I guess it is still the case that you have to have it with broadband.  I know when I sorted the package last year there was the option to just have the phone there and not pay for evening/weekend calls etc so will see what the options are.  I am hoping $ky will be able to do an online chat later to help me sort this.

We switched via £co to Vod..... and got paid £95. Because we had a mobile with them already got it for £20 otherwise would have been £23. We were playing closer to £40 pcm before.

We have a landline & broadband contract as mobile signal is pants here. Ours is £26 a month with Plusnet and includes all calls up to an hour long to UK landlines and mobiles and unlimited broadband, and a basic TV package. We do pay an annual line rental fee so that that element is not subject to COL increases part way through. Our mobile packages are each about £10 a month and mine is linked with our Son's so he gets more data (lives in a town, streams music and films) - he shares extra data with me when I need it

I am doing quite well working through the MSE Academy of Money through the OU (I did find one page/question very difficult and still don't understand how they came up with the answers) but I have to admit reading about investments is really making my brain work.  Does anyone know of any good places that explains investments in an easy to understand way?  I think I am getting bogged down with the words but I really do want to understand it all.

Why not check out The Frugal Cottage that is the blog site of @simplyfading? - she runs the "save £12k in 2020" thread (has done for years). This year she has started running simple videos and courses via her Youtube channel and her FB page (links are all on her web-site).

I have just completed the MSE course.  At each step I made a note of the questions and answers in the half time and end of course quizzes apart from the last one where you have to pass to complete the course and it turns out that is the only one they don't give you the answers to.  There were a couple I got rather confused on and would have liked to see all the answers at the end and make a note so I can continue to learn and now I can't do that :'(
I am going to force mysef out for a walk as I haven't left the house yet today.  I have been quite inspired by finishing this so am going to go back into a free OU course that I enrolled on 3-4 years ago on the same topic and complete this too and may get started on it when I get back.

    Do it!
I started the other course yesterday and it turns out it is almost exactly the same but there are more sections to it.  It does mean I have been able to go fairly quickly through the first 3 sections so depending on the weather and my motivation I might be able to complete it over the next couple of days.

I think I am due an updated SOA, especially with all the finncial reading I am doing although I am happy and proud to say I do seem to be constantly reviewing my budget.  It will be a slght paper exercise until next month when I am more sure of the remortgage monthly cost but I have a pretty good idea of what it is going to be.  I want to review mostly to look at the spare cash I have for saving and OPing.  This is built into my budget as a matter of course but often makes it harder to see what my budget actually looks like.
I am going to get to the end of this course first and then sit down and complete it so I will be grateful for any input once it is up.
