Even with the forms, it doesn't stop the sob stories. I remember a radio networks advent comp, it was a form to "win Christmas" but that didn't stop people posting about this being their granddads last Christmas because of cancer or how this is their fist Christmas in their own home ect.
That's true. It didn't stop 'superheroes' or people with lots of kiddie-winkles either. heh! I think we will just have to (grudgingly) accept that sob stories are here to stay....
...... Although it won't stop the likes of us taking the wee-wee out of them

noticed when a company post on FB comp posts "this competition is now closed, we will pick the winner soon" people start gushing on that post too- "oh please pick me!" "fingers & toes crossed" "good luck!!!!!!!!!(insert emoji overkill)" and even more pictures of their little ones. why?!2018 wins-12wins0

What grinds my gears these days is those people who post "wacky" pictures of themselves in reply to Twitter competitions. I keep seeing the same ones over and over again. Why? All they have asked for is a retweet, what is the purpose of you posting a picture of yourself with an inane grin on your face? Narcissism?
At any rate, it's not amusing, it's just annoying.

On a comp to win a laptop on FB - and they did say tell us why you want to win:
" Nicom It Services The winner is xxxxxx.
Forgot to mention that some of the reasons for needing a laptop really touched us. Because of that i will be upping my efforts to ensuring that we donate more equipment to worthwhile causes across the country"
The winner mentioned that she does competitions (and entered from her self-proclaimed 'competition account') as it helps to take her mind off her constant pain.
As it happens myself and a fair few friends I have do comp to take our minds off unpleasant health issues - but most of us wouldn't mention it to win a comp... Ah well, more fool us.2018 - £562 2019 - £130 2020 - £276 2021 - £106 2022 - £1400 -

Something tells me that they are going to regret posting that bit. Already seen a bit of begging.
Got to admit that I still don't like seeing the health issue posts used to try and gain and advantage. I think it's bad taste.

I agree. There are a couple in particular who pop up now and again, and it seems very full on with the amount of effort they put in to win. And it doesn't matter what it's for - could be a spanner or something and the 'OMG!! Face' is there. Accompanied by tons of heart emojis and what-have-you. Far too bright and too much in the way of overkill tbh.
We need a massive facepalm emoji to automatically pop up when that happens. :rotfl:

Just noticed the "Son getting Married in Michigan" duo have struck again!
This time it's the husband (tagged the wife in the comment) Including a photo of the couple who married in Michigan, in March! It's carphone-warehouse comp asking for the display specs of a phone..2018 wins-12wins0 -

They've been quiet. TBH, I was expecting something like a scan or something.
There was one the other day about a little 'un being car sick, and we had the whole saga from first chug to how the wet wipes did the trick, etc, etc. They were that engrossed in telling the story, that they forgot to answer the question - which is all that was required. Ho-hum. Baby spew stories = could be a winner :eek::eek:
