New car order
Hello everyone I have taken out a lease on a new car a Kia Sportage. I haven't received the car yet as its still to be built. After speaking to the dealership today they have informed me that the car is on back order. Sorry for sounding dense but what does that actually mean?
Thanks
Thanks

It means an order has been placed, but the car you want is not yet programmed into the line to actually be produced.
This can happen for a number of reasons, but at some point you should receive a build week date.0 -
In other words it will likely be a bit later than you first expected.0
-
When leasing a car (assuming you want it pretty much immediately) check it is in stock.0

The Sportage is due to be replaced very shortly. Is your order for the old model or the new one?
If for the old model, then don't hold your breath - it's entirely likely that build slots have stopped being allocated.
If for the new model, then there may be a delay in production due to problems being experienced.0 -

The new Sportage has been in the showrooms for a few months now.
Edit
Just noticed Neil has posted exactly the same.0 -
Yes it is for the new Sportage model. Apparently the demand for this new model has outstripped supply so nothing available already built in the country. Hopefully I will hear from the garage next month with an approximate delivery time.0

If it's any help, a colleague's wife waited 20 weeks for her leased new Sportage from time of order.0

Oh really?! That's not good :-/ was it the new shape Sportage? And when did she get it?0
