Train gate is very damaging for JC. It blows to pieces his credibility as being authentic and honest. It also shows that he will lie and spin when it suits.

Didn't take long for the true character to be exposed.

I have no idea why JC is so obsessed with re nationalizing the railways. I often use Virgin (including The Edinburgh Line that train gate occurred on ) it's great; as is GWR. There are however, problems with Southern - but politicians should sort this out not re nationalize the whole shebang.

The railways just aren't that bad - it's not like the UK hasn't got more pressing problems. Maybe it's something to do with the railway unions?

Labour conference in peril as G4S rules out last-minute deal

Party may have to cancel its annual meeting as it runs out of security options following decision to boycott company
G4S has said it will not step in at the last minute to provide security for the Labour party conference, even if the party’s executive drops its boycott of the company, leaving the party facing the possibility of having to cancel the event.
The annual conference, which is due to be held in Liverpool next month, is at crisis point after the GMB union threatened to stage a picket if Labour contracted an alternative provider, Showsec, because it does not recognise trade unions.
No other security provider has bid to cover the conference, which several high-profile party figures have warned could be cancelled unless the security issue is resolved.
Eric Alexander, managing director for G4S events, said the company would usually start planning for such a large and complex event up to a year in advance. “Safety for delegates and our staff is our priority and at this late stage and with our teams committed elsewhere, we are not in a position to step in and provide security for the conference,” he said in a statement sent to the Guardian.
2083.jpg?w=460&q=55&auto=format&usm=12&fit=max& “Security officers need to be cleared and accredited to work, detailed risk assessments made, safety and security plans with the Home Office and local police forces drawn up and supporting logistics, such as security equipment and staff accommodation, put in place.
“Our team of more than 100 security staff has secured the Labour party’s annual conference for over 20 years and the feedback from officials and the police on our work last year, as in the past, was extremely positive. Clearly we were disappointed not to continue such a successful working relationship.”

Makes you wonder if they are capable of organising anything at all.

The end of that article says
Labour’s conference security could be provided by the police, at a significant extra cost. According to the Spectator, a Showsec security guard is paid between £8 and £9 an hour, but to pay a police officer would cost the party £59.65 an hour

More than likely. Corbyn's entrenched views will go back decades.

Network Rail, which owns the stations, tracks, bridges, tunnels and rail infrastructure, is already publicly owned after the last Labour government forced its privately-owned predecessor, Railtrack, into administration in 2001....

....does Corbyn want to re nationalize BA or is it just trains he has trouble with?
  • The trains that I go on are fine, I also do not see why they need re-nationalising, nor why doing so will somehow make them better.

Why is Labour using private security guards anyway? I thought it was against the privatisation of public services?
