Speed camera site

  • Where do you get your 99.5% figure from. We've just done a traffic survey on a residential road near Lincoln and of over 5,000 vehicles checked 50% were speeding in the 30 limit. Is it any wonder the government is making so much easy money out of motorists!!!

And you can bet that the people who live on that road are pretty unimpressed with that 50% too. Stuff 'em! - you speed past my house and do I care if it costs you £60 and 3 points?!

Go peddle your lame excuses elsewhere! :D

Most people speed but most people haven't killed anyone, driver error kills
And speeding is a pretty good indicator that the driver isn't concentrating, especially when the camera is painted bright yellow...

    Of course speeding kills....

No it doesn't. Poor driving does and speeding amplifies poor driving.

Surely people shouldn't be expected to concentrate on looking out for cameras?

Bottom line is that someone going 56mph in a 50 mph zone is not a huge threat. Resources best applied elsewhere.

No objections to cameras in 30mph zones or where schools are, etc but just fed up of seeing 'revenue raising' cameras at, for example, the bottom of steep hills where you have to keep on braking to keep within limits (A303 has one).

Instead of catching people speeding like bella165's example, why arent the police catching the morons who have the blue lights put in their head lights so you think the services are behind you, or the ones who overtake when they schouldnt, cut you up, drive in the bus lane...the list goes on. I would rather they sort that kinda driver out than someone going a couple of miles over the limit.

Its a shame the police have a mountain of paperwork to do, they might then spend more time catching the divs on our roads.
