Hello all
I am new to this forum and am looking for some assistance. My son suggested I come here because you are the guys in the know.
I received an invoice from Vehicle Control Services for £100 (reduced to £60 if I pay within 14 days).
Now, I have researched how to deal with this and have come across conflicting information; ignore it, don't ignore it, appeal to them, appeal to the governing body etc etc, and I am hoping that I can get some information from people who know about it and can give me more specific details regarding where to go from here.
The 'invoice' is for being in a 'no stopping/waiting in restricted areas or roadways'... I stopped in a bus stop at Humberside airport for less than 60 seconds to pick up the other half who was stood waiting at the stop.
There are obvious signs telling me I can't stop on the roundabout, which the bus stop was adjacent to, but nothing to my memory telling me that I couldn't stop in the bus stop itself, after all, busses do, and there were no busses around.
The point is, they are wanting around £1/second for this 'infraction'. That is unfair by anyones standards.
I would really appreciate any help and information as to how to proceed.
Many, many thanks in advance!

There is no advice here to ignore it!
Now read up in the newbies faq thread near the top of the forum for advice on how and when to appeal etc.0 -
Thanks Quentin, I will have a look. I am new to this whole forum thing (not just this one) so I will take a look there.
It wasn't on this page suggesting I ignore then, it was from various google searches before my Son said to come here0 -
The advice prior to October 2012 was to ignore them - however, due to POFA that came into force in October 2012, that advice is no longer valid."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

On the contrary, ignoring is perfectly good advice for a Humberside or Liverpool Airport case. There is no meaningful appeal, and there is nothing to be gained by getting a rejection from the IAS kangaroo court.0

I disagree. If it is anonymous, perverse, partial, or does not address the issues, there is everything to be gained. The PPC are unlikely to want it to ne shown to a judge. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
I got exactly the same thing. I stopped for 60 seconds to pick up my aged parents who were standing at the at Perspex bus shelter instead of the drop off area at Humberside airport. I got letter from VCS showing a pic of my stepfather loading his case into the car. They must have a camera permanently pointing at the shelter and it must be a very common mistake that people make. I binned the first letter, then got a second one that was more threatening and binned that too.
I regard it as semi legal piracy and predating on people especially since that shelter is so misleading.
I intend to bin everything and take it to the wire. If I get court papers, then I'm going to go and defend it. Worst case is £230 if I lose. I'm going to make sure that they don't make a penny out of me0 -

There is nothing stopping you appealing as long as the event happened in the last year.
The UK Government states that changes in EU law last year say that appeals should be allowed (Alternative Dispute Resolution) for up to a year, and it will make you look reasonable should they decide to take this further.
"It is the will of Parliament, as a result of the EU Consumer Rights Directive, that ADRs must imminently be made available for not less than a year."I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -

Do not bin everything. Keep ALL letters.

BMPA (of which I am a member) says: ''Our recommendation for this operator: Ignore all but court papers or solicitors letters. If you get questionable "legal" letters then take advice from the forums.''PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

VCS use the kangeroo court of IAS.
So if you get a ticket from these guys do you have to use IAS as your ADR ???
