O/S Daily Thread Wednesday 3rd August 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all
Damp and drizzly here so far, it may brighten up later.
A load of furniture was collected yesterday, they will be coming back for the rest in a month or so.
I'm looking after my DD's 2 dogs for a week so that rather scuppers the plans for decorating as dogs and wet paint don't mix.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
good morning all,
Thank you Hester for starting us off.
Quite cloudy here at the moment, but it is early. Off out to see my sister and brother in law later, looking forward to that. She is having 2 of her grandchildren today and I haven't seen them in ages so that should be fun. The children are off on their holidays on Friday so we have put some 1 pound and 2 pound coins in little bags for their holiday spends.
We are waiting for an electrician to call to fix the pully light in the bathroom, I know it isn't a big job but we need to have it done.
Lainey thinking of you and your Mum, it is a very worrying time for you all.
Have a good day

Morning everyone
HH - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, bright blue sky and lovely sunshine, but underfoot is damp but drying up.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was beef casserole, chips/jacket potato, and veg - that wasn't the original plan but I was late home from work and then 1 of the main routes was blocked as the road further on was closed the whole town was gridlocked, so I was nearly 1/2 hour later getting home than normal, hairdresser got held up too but did arrive. Tonight we'll be having sausages, roasties and LO's - all needs using up.
Work yesterday was busier than expected so we'll see what today brings, we couldn't make the monies balance last night so that's why I was late, I'll be going back to look at this again this morning, we were in the situation of having too much money opposed to not having enough, machine print out gave us 1 figure and we had something different - will look again with fresh eyes this morning, I do have 1 thought where it may be, so will check that first. I'm working the extra hours again this afternoon, so another full day, on days' off then until Monday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Nice start here and promises to be a good day. Yesterday was a pretty mizzly, drizzly day all through.
We went to Boundary Mills as planned and what bargains! I got fit up for the wedding in true MSE style! A Country Casuals black and white fit & flare dress reduced from £135 to £35. A black Precis jacket reduced from £139 to £19 and, in case the day was warm, I got an alternative black lace jacket, reduced to £15. On top of that I got 10% discount for using my Privilege Customer card!! The huge store was very busy with queues for everything, be it customer services, pay points, cafe, restaurant and car park! Plus a dozen or more coach trips there! We were glad to get back out.
I am just awaiting the arrival of Roxy dog who we are minding for the day. DS, DP and her youngest boy (9) are off to Scarborough for the day and, weather permitting, going in the water park where doggies are not allowed.
It's my first Wed of the month night out with the "girls" tonight for the carvery and wine. Looking forward to a good old natter and catch up of gossip. I've got some pork loin out defrosting to cook for Mr TA's tea before I go.
Mr TA wants to resume the mass tidy up session in the back garden today so we will have to barricade any possible escape routes up as we don't want Roxy escaping! There is much bush and shrub uprooting involved this time so that we can get at the rotting fence and replace it. It'll be just one step at a time.
LAINEY waiting for a final diagnosis on your mum is a worry, fingers crossed for you all. The stress of your job isn't helping either. CSARINA hope you get better news on your DH today. It's a shame you are having to cancel your trip to France. We too have been "grounded" since Mr TA's diagnosis and holidays limited to this country for the last three years. Although he says he feels well enough the insurance would cost more than the holiday! Nevertheless, we have been to some lovely places in the UK not visited before and are happy doing that. (Just a shame about the weather sometimes!!)
Have a good day and (((HUGS))) where wanted. Take care allxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone.
Wet and bright here, I'm ever hopeful that the sun will appear again.
I'll try heading up to Oban this morning, I fancy a wander around the lovely garden centre just north of it where they also have a great cafe.
Yesterday was fairly busy and productive but in saving my 'energy' for next week when I'm really busy every day.
I hope everyone enjoys this Wednesday.0 -
Thank you HH for the thread X
Sorry to hear about DH csarina. As others have said, he is in the right place, but so stressful for you xx
LaineyT - hope Mum gets some answers today. Work sounds horrendous X
TA - great bargains, well done you!
DH is up and showered - earliest in months - as his IV is this morning. Would you believe he has another two scheduled for next week - just like buses, none for ages then three at once. Still I'm not complaining! I'm at the church this morning then off on some errands.
In a bid to get DS2 fitter we walked 4km yesterday to our local retail park to buy milk! Today we will walk the opposite direction same distance (maybe a bit more) to buy veggies for tea. He was Pokemonning on the way, but I made him keep up with my route march. We have tried the 0 to 5km running but he is very asthmatic and with the extra weight he is carrying it's not great. Must say I'm feeling it in my legs today but I did also go to the gym yesterday morning so had already done a 20min run plus weights
Hope you all have a great day.

Morning all,
Wet and drizzly here its meant to be brightening up later but we shall see, off to work for me but a short week this week, just two days at work then training on Friday till lunchtime and I might take the afternoon of as lieu I have over a week to take so it should be ok.
Met my friend for lunch yesterday and we put the world to rights over lunch, did my shopping after and got a lovely bit of pork for tonight reduced to £4, ran it round to mum who will be cooking it for us so looking forward to that.
Lainey sorry to hear about your horrible day its really nasty when things are bad at work, I feel for you. Hope all goes well with mum xx
Csarina hugs xx
Have good days all xxx0 -
Morning everyone,
Dry and reasonably bright here, yesterday we had a fair bit of rain so everything is looking good in the garden.
Glad you have found your outfit for the wedding TA, sounds lovely and good prices for quality pieces. Do hope you enjoy your evening out with your ladies, it seems ages since I have been out with my girlfriends and miss them so must make time for that.
Off to work this morning, my SIL has promised to let me know as soon as there is news, she reassured me yesterday that doesn't mind in the least taking Mum but once again am feeling guilty. Think you are right AOD, set myself these high standards and then beat myself up if slip in any way. Have reasoned that am best using my last couple of days holiday when / if Mum needs operation etc, mind given yesterday's events doubt will be there much longer, it's horrible and simply don't need that kind of stress right now.
Anyways, titus out as Hester would say, have a good day everyone x0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Bad night, was drinking tea and crocheting at 3 am. I need to make some emergency plans........
Going into the hospital this afternoon, but will ring this morning to see what sort of night he had.
Coffee morning at the chapel, the village gossip will be there, so the village will know by lunchtime.
I also need to go to the post office whilst I am out. Sun is shining, birds tweeting, I have to get out into the garden and do some weeding, the herbaceous bed needs sorting too. I am taking a bag of beans to the coffee morning, I just cannot eat them all. I also have a courgette that is like a small marrow.0 -
Morning All
Grey and miserable out there this morning, we had a HUGE thunder and lightening storm in the night, it was right overhead and went on for about an hour, torrential rain too.
DW emptied, not enough washing for a load and everywhere still clean and tidy.
Went to DDs yesterday and painted her kitchen (tiny) and the ceiling in the kitchen/living room. She had said that there was a huge tub of white emulsion in the cupboard that was left when she moved in, thought it was strange when I used it and when I looked it was obliterating paint - the house was bought from the builders and had been rented out so obviously the walls had been drawn all over. Anyway in true mse style I used it up and it looks fine.
I think DD wants to go and look at window blinds today so will take her to a few shops, also want to nip into the shop she bought her sofa from - it looks like the covers have stretched, when she phoned customer services they had no record of her buying the sofa and insist it was me!
Hope you have a stress free day at work Lainey and your DM gets on ok today.
Well done on the outfit TA, enjoy your evening out.
Sorry DH isn't too good csarina, hope you have him home soon.
Enjoy Wednesday, take care. XX0
