Flights Cancelled and offered new Flight - Unacceptable [Monarch]

Hi guys, new poster here.

Just had an e-mail from Monarch Airlines with a flight cancellation from B/ham to Barcelona. The scheduled flight is at the end of November.

The flights they've offered as an alternative is 24 1/2 hours later! I booked this through Expedia, and the hotel is non-refundable.

Seeing as i'm going to miss out on an entire day/night if i accept the alternative flight, what can i do about this. Anyway of claiming? If so, anyone have a similar story to this, and if so, what kind of compensation were they looking at?

Birmingham to Barcelona is generally a daily flight (not necessary to fly Monarch I presume) .... arm yourself with the alternative(s) and maybe given the recent price reductions you may pick up a less expensive price than Monarch and pocket the difference. Are you flying back MON? This should be on Monarch thread by the way.

no compensation as more than 14 days notice given, If you don't want to miss part of your holiday, take refund and book Ryanair flight (they appear to operate 7 days and most days are £22)
