It was not cheap but I was trying to travel environmentally ethnically.
Some people on here really need to calm down imo I can imagine so you lot would throw a hissy fit if a guest put their elbows on your table.
I want virgin trains to refund my journey because they did not fulfil their side of things.0 -

You do have travel insurance ? Without it you're in for a long and drawn out battle with Virgin with no real precedent of whether you'll 'win'0 -
What is it you actually want from Virgin ?HelpwithVirginTrains wrote: »they’ve ignored the extra expenses we incurred like having to get from Great Victoria to Paddington, food and drink expenses.
He also thinks it's "dishonest" for Virgin's attempt to shift blame for the Ferry's delay on to Irish Ferries and wants Virgin to refund the ticket price. You do have travel insurance ? Go down the proper complaint channels. Don't waffle when detailing your complaint, use bullet points if necessary. Leave social media out of it. Don't expect automatic sympathy for your predicament on forums. Post on appropriate forums.
Wealdroam actually gave you your answer at post #2 of this thread.0 -

I don't know, and you haven't said, what the taxi fare in Dublin was, but the tube fare is £2.40 per person.
Why should Virgin, or any other train or ferry operator, refund the fare for the whole journey?
I think Virgin are acting reasonably in suggesting that as Irish Ferries caused your delay, by cancelling a sailing, then you should be pursuing them for your compensation.
You mention in your opening post that you also want compensation for 'food and drink expenses'.
Would you not have eaten if you had been on time?
You don't have extra sustenance requirements just because you are travelling late.
Do you have receipts for these things?0 -
There is a lot of information in your complaint that is not relevant any muddying your real complaint
e.g. time scheduled to get to the port...the journey breakdown shows that you need to get yourself from the station to the port (how you choose to do this is down to you) I assume you had done some research before starting your journey so new how long you had to transfer and new there was no public transport available so surely you would have had to take a taxi anyway unless you were planning to walk the 30 minute walk
Difficulty with contacting Virgin Trains re ferry cancellation - you were at the port, was there nobody there from Irish Ferries? they are responsible for the Ferry part
re late arrival and train tickets from Holyhead the Virgin Trains website shows - In the event of the ferry arriving late in Holyhead, tickets will be valid on the first available rail service at no extra charge.
As has been said Virgin were a reseller here...you can also buy these rail & sail tickets from the Trainline but you are buying into separate contracts that happen to have been bundled together
I am uncertain what you are trying to claim a refund for
you used the Belfast to Dublin
you used the Dublin to Holyhead...or did you need to purchase a new ticket?
you chose not to use the Holyhead to London and instead took the coach
If you are trying to claim for missed hotel and flight change fees, this should be directed to your travel insurers0 -

I must have missed the bit in the T&Cs that says refunds apply for weather cancellations even if you travel :-)
Different to airlines obviously where you only get a refund if you don't travel0 -

Reset email in your spam inbox, might not be instant though.0 -

Your choice to take the coach, I posted on the previous thread that you were looking at a Sunday timetable, whereas by the time you had completed the ferry crossing it was Monday morning.
There was a train that would have got you into Euston for 8.34am.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
