Forced to use BT Infinity

Hi,
I bought a new build last year and Openreach only installed fiber line from cabinet to my house but no copper. So I signed up BT Infinity as it was the only option to me.
Now that my introductory offer with BT is coming to end, I am looking to switch provider. I have tried my address on the websites of various providers and only BT and Zen can provide internet to my house but neither is cheap.
Could anybody give me some advice as to what options I might have?
The following is the result of DSL checker on my address. Sorry about the text version because I cannot post image as a new comer.
Featured Products Downstream Line Rate(Mbps) Upstream Line Rate(Mbps) Downstream Range(Mbps) WBC FTTP Availability Date
WBC FTTP Up to 330 Up to 30 -- Available --
Other Offerings Availability Date
VDSL Multicast -- -- -- Available --

Tell BT you are thinking of cancelling when contract ends and see what they offer .0

You are limited to BT, Zen and AAISP.
Plusnet do offer it however only for existing copper based service customers.0 -
That's really a shame, thanks for confirming this.0

Yeah it's such a shame to have 300mbps available. So many people would hate to be in your position.0

Of course you are not 'forced' to use Infinity, but out of the providers that offer service over FTTP, BT Infinity is the 'value' brand, if you think it's not right that you cannot get service from the likes of Sky or Talk Talk, then your gripe is with those company's for not offering service to your address over Openreach's FTTP network (like they do for FTTC areas)
Do you think OR should double up, and provide both a copper line and a fibre line ?so you get the chance to use providers that only offer regular broadband or FTTC, duplication like that would obvious cost, and consumers would obviously foot the bill if OR had to put copper and fibre into every address
OR are pilloried by many for not providing FTTP extensively , yet you don't seem to want it when you have access to it, careful, OR may use you as an example for why the FTTP roll out isn't as quick as many would like, FWIW, the 52Mb Infinity is the same list price on FTTP and FTTC, but they may not offer discounts on FTTP areas if they are already the cheapest provider, that's just free market economics
As far as what options you have, you could consider using a 3/4G mobile provider.0 -
Thank you for the detailed reply.
TBH I am not very familiar with the broadband technologies and I was just surprised that other big suppliers like Sky, TalkTalk, etc, would not offer anything on this FTTP connection.
I think over 200 homes on this development are in the same situation and this might be happening to other new builds around the the country. Hopefully some day other suppliers will enter this market.
Anyway, I will look into 3G/4G dongles and perhaps just stick with BT.0 -
If you find an unlimited or even 100GB or so 3G/4G service that can compete costwise with fixed line or fibre broadband please start a new thread with the details. Your thanks might breach the counter.0
