I've been with Affect Energy for nearly 2 years. Their tarriff is very competitive and I've just signed up to another Fixed deal but its only for 9 months. I have had no problems whatsoever and would highly recommend them.

I switched to Affect 2 years ago, I also moved my mum and recommended them to lots of friends. They are very good and I'm very pleased with their service.

However, my renewal has come through, offering their Fixed December 19 tarriff, fixed for the next 10 months. It has gone up and although I never did choose them because they are the cheapest, my estimated annual bill will rise from £1543 to £1905 up 23.5%! This seems a lot to me and I'm disappointed.

Avro are offering a 12 month deal for £1728 and Green Network Energy an 18 month deal for £1791 - £32 cashback.

I'm reluctant to move, especially with Affect giving very good CS, but being retired I do need to find the best vfm.

Edit - Whilst looking for a better deal I discovered that Affect was swallowed up by Octopus Energy last September, this was news to me! Fortunately, Octopus has an excellent CS rating and their quote being £69 lower than Affects renewal, plus a £50 cashback via the MSE Referrers Board has resulted in me signing up for a 12 month fixed deal - not a bad result.

Am in the process of switching from Affect to Avro as their 12 month fix should be £145pa cheaper. My fix ran out 31 March, looked today and saw they'd put me on standard tariff from 1 April, where I thought supplier had to keep you on same tariff if switch was instigated in the "exit penalty free" period. Phoned Octopus this afternoon to enquire, they've switched me back to my March tariff from 1 April intil the switch occurs on 20th April. excellent CS, just like Affect, so if Avro turn out to be a PITA I'll be going back to them!
  • I have been with Affect Energy for two years now, and the service has been fantastic. However, I feel this will all change with Octopus (never heard of them) buying them.

Thankfully I did my tariff change in March 2019, fixed for 12 months. Something that Octopus seem not to be offering.

Such a shame that Affect have now, all but, gone. I will be moving companies next February / March.
    Money scares me.

    Honesty update will arrive shortly......:o
