Credit score gone down?

Hi, I posted on here a few weeks ago about Capital One appearing on my credit score doing searches.
I was advised that they were soft searches and would do no harm.
Yesterday i looked at my credit score and it has gone down by 18 points, I haven't applied for anything, I'm not in any arrears and I haven't done anything that could cause my score to go down so why has it?
Capital one are still doing searches on me for some reason, even though I have never had anything to do with them.
Just this month alone they have done 5 searches!

Your score will fluctuate for no reason as it's not based on anything meaningful. Ignore it.0

Your credit score is meaningless so ignore it and any increase/decrease in 'score'. I've had months where mine has gone down when absolutely nothing has changed from 1 month to the next (apart from the minimum repayments being made) and then some months it increases randomly. It is the credit reference agencies way of marketing gimmicks and trying to get you to buy their reports so you can improve your score which is created by them and seen by no-one else (no financial institute uses it).
The more concerning issue would be why are Capital One searching your files if you haven't applied for a card/already hold one. You need to contact them and ask what's going on. Could possibly be ID fraud.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. My credit score has changed by 16 points. Looks like it's because today I wore boxers instead of briefs.0
