Can you get the buyer to collect it, or tax it before you make the journey?

Collection not possible sadly. I just found out that I can tax it but it must be done in person at the postoffice

I thought anyone would tax online. Is this because you've SORN'd it?

yes, correct. DVLA confirmed this. Went to the post office and did it. Apparently the change is effective immediately.

Thing is, though, that the buyer can't test drive if it's SORN'd.

It's quite a clever system the government has put in - it means that two people get to pay a given month's road tax on a car.

And a helluva lot more don't pay tax at all as they don't have to display a Tax disc. Or have an MOT or even insurance. This was such an obvious result of the recent changes that only a government department and politicians could have come up with such a bad idea.

The government are losing money hand over fist with their wonderfully thought out scheme, but of course their loss is a debt collectors gain!!

But once again it will be the law abiding motorist stumping up the cash to prop it all up!
