This damp or condasation continues up one whole wall (the wall is an old brick wall, 300 years old). The other 2 walls in comes up as far as the window sill.
Any help/advice would be great.

The 1st one looks like condensation, but I could be wrong (although you dont often have condensation this time of the year) the 2nd and 3rd may be damp

I think theres some simply test you can do to find out which, but cant remember the exact way something like put a plastic sheet over it

You can get a damp meter quite cheap I got one yesterday on ebay for £3 odd inc postage, it measures the resistance in the wall/timber to display water content.
  • I think the test involves sticking a bit of tinfoil on the wall with sellotape, leaving for a few days, and then checking if there is condensation on the tinfoil (not sure what side of the tinfoil should be checked for condensation).

"a quick tip on damp to find if it is condensation or seepage, selloptape some foil to the wall make sure it is sealed around the edge leave it for a week if it is damp on the outside then it is condensation, if it is damp on the inside then it is seepage if it is damp on both sides then its time to move"

Looks like rising or penetrating damp to me. I suggest you get several quotes for repairs. Be very careful who you entrust the work to, as there are many cowboys about.

I don't know what to do with it, the plaster seems to blow out. The middle picture is a wall between bedroom and bathroom, the other pictures are main walls.

I think that mildew is typical of condensation. But can't tell from your photos try the tin foil test and let us know how you get on with it.

I'd be suspecting leaks or seals not working. Is the bath or shower against that wall?
