    Morning everyone,

    Thanks for the thread redruby.

Not much planned for today except sorting and cleaning scout gear and equipment that came home from camp. Managed to get one load of washing on last night. Only one moany parent out of 24 telling DH that her son won't be back in September as he had a miserable time - thanks for that!

Speky - good for you holding out on the job offer. Fingers crossed for good news on Monday.
Deleted_User - hope DH is feeling brighter when you see him today.
JackieO - have a great time at the surprise party later.
Lainey - glad to hear mum is feeling a bit better

    Have a good day all

    Morning all,

Just enjoying a coffee and a catch up.
TRU - what a lovely place

I,m loving reading about all of your doggy tales (tails), I,m really missing not having a dog, it's been 3 years now since we lost our Westie. We are not in the right place in our lives to take on another, but I do have dog envy X
JACKIEO - We are polishing the grass and sweeping the beaches in readiness for your visit, I hope the weather is wonderful for you all, it would be great if you could spare an hour to have a meet up - we could drag MONNA out of the kitchen too :) I wouldn't want to intrude on your break, so let me know X

Trying to have a chilled day today, need to pop to the shop, as eldest DS and his GF are coming for a visit tomorrow, so a meal, for 2 will now be a feast for 5 or 7 depending if DD and her BF come along I,m just doing a roast chicken, salad, HM bread etc and a pud - not sure what yet.... something easy to grab - self service style :)

Off to start my day, so have a fab weekend X

Going to Ramsgate later, the spitfire is hopefully flying over, my mum was a mechanic during the war on them.

Been sorting out seeds for next year and listing what we need for the
    Lottie.

Eating out of freezer for couple of days to use up odd bits and make some room.

Hugs where needed, have a great day all.

    Morning all

    Well done Speky

Overcast here, one forecast says a few light showers other says none...

I'm off to the local food/craft market soon, meeting OH there for a wander round. OH is playing cricket today, but under strict instructions to have his phone on him at all times just in case baby decides to appear. Cricket club is opposite the maternity hospital anyway so he's closer than me! Think I'll spend a bit of time in nursery later, need to get the furniture layout sorted and unpack a few new items.

OS wise - WM is on, I may risk putting it out to dry, have a second load of the kids bedding to go in too but that can wait if needs be. DW didn't go on yday as we didn't eat dinner so it will go on at some point today. Need to do a mini food shop too.

Have a good day all x

I have a couple of dds coming round later so will see what they fancy for lunch. I thought of doing posh sausages with home made low fat potato salad as it seems quite hot today.

I went upstairs and finished putting books away in the bookcase and stripped one of the beds. Then got so hot and shattered I had to sit down with some water.

DDs have just arrived and are doing some work in the garden while I prepare lunch to eat outside. Green leafy salad, home made potato and pasta salad, posh sausages and some cherry tomatoes and cucumber. Tonight might be marinated chicken in the slow cooker with leftover salad.

I really missed dds this week and it is lovely to see them. Builders are going to finish work on the garden and the house next week.

Take care in this heat and hugs to all

Speky congratulations on getting the job - I'm really pleased for you. :T
JackieO I'm pleased that young Jack is getting back to his usual cheerful self - but you know, I do think that guy should be reported to the council, if only to save some other skint teen from getting the same treatment and possibly sustaining a nasty injury. Just my two-penn'orth.;)

Fidget has been fed and walked and had a game in the garden with a tennis ball; she's now spark-out on the sofa. :D

I realised the other day, I haven't made any cakes since Mr LW retired in March - as he no longer needs a lunchbox, there's been no real reason to make them. I suggested getting rid of the cake tins etc, and he's now suggested that I make cakes again sometimes, and we'll have them as dessert. So I shall be toiling in the kitchen in a little while - cherry and coconut, I think. ;)
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Just having a wee rest after my labours in the kitchen. Much as I really like liver it's awfully messy to work with. Taking a tip from a website I marinaded the liver in wine vinegar before going out to visit the holiday-makers, the town shops and then another neighbour.

Did the onions first and left them to caramelise, cut up the liver and dredged it all. I looked for some left-over Marsala to add to the onions but couldn't find it so used some long-lingering Pedro Xim!nez instead - yummy! Now waiting for it all to cool down before decanting and freezing again.

Storming ahead on the batch cooking front. Now I'm going to go through the freezer drawers and dispose of rubbish goods, like fresh bread rolls which do not defrost well, they just become stale hard bread. We've got plenty of German rye bread (pumpernickel too) in packets for any emergency and don't often eat bread anyway. Valuable freezer room is being taken up. I'm on a mission now. :T

LameWolf - enjoy your baking...cherry and coconut sounds delicious.

Sun is shining, swallows are twittering and sheep are baaing for no good reason at all. The tide is going out so I may go for a stroll along the sands for a change.

    Or I may not! :o:o

DDs are tidying up the back garden for me and pruning a creeper when they found a length of barbed wire strung right behind it and hidden away. Will have to warn the builders on Monday before someone gets hurt - it is like a booby trap

The previous vendor just keeps going up and up in my opinion - NOT! Things have been done so badly you wonder if it was intentional but I don't want to get morbid. At least we are getting everything sorted out.

    Hugs to all.

LW I may pop into my local little council office and ask on Monday as I too think its not right, apparently an employer can dictate what the hourly rate is as the minimum doesn't kick in until they are 21 and if its as Jack was 'part-time ' basically tough luck. But I will ask about shifting heavy goods as I think its dangerous.
Made a big vat of carrot and coriander soup this morning and I'm just going to have a cuppa then i will be off on my adventure to Faversham. The lady who owns the B&B rang me to say she wouldn't be there this afternoon as she has to visit someone in hospital at Canterbury, but told me where to find the key and the room and has taken my order for breakfast in the morning. Think my sis-in-laws in for a big surprise as she hasn't a clue about the party tonight :)

Eldest DD emailed to say her and her OH are having a good time in Greece and its very hot (40c+) not my cup of tea at all :) but I shall be happy with the peacefulness of the Island and as we are staying at Chale its at the 'back of the Island' so a nice book in the garden under the tree sounds like bliss to me with a cuppa of course :):)
    Cheers chums
