This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all,

Nice bright day here off to work for me day six and I am feeling it I cant wait till Sunday evening and have my days off to look forward to !

OH in charge of domestics today I will get something out of the freezer for him to cook I think there is mince in there or some meatballs. He will have a tidy round too.

Evie is desperate to have her fur trimmed she needs to go to a groomer as its not like normal dog hair its more like human hair but she looks really scruffy and it gets all bits and bobs stuck in it :rotfl:so OH might take her today.

Jackie I think you have done the right thing re young Jack he has got years ahead of him at work and should not be lifting such heavy things at his age.

Specky well done you, hold out for the extra money, they obviously want you !

Have good days all xx

    Morning :hello:

Congrats on the job offer Speky :T

I left it a bit late to book a holiday for this year so didn't think I'd get what I wanted - St Ives, must have parking (a massive bonus, so many places don't include parking there), must allow pets, must have some sort of enclosed outside area even if it's only a tiny balcony or patio and must cost less than £500. Impossible, I thought, but I found a quiet place a little bit further out than I originally wanted but that's probably for the best with a stressy dog, lol. Most holiday places are smaller than they appear on the photos so I'm expecting THIS ONE to be tiny :D

Mr tru faffed about all afternoon, didn't get his sauces done and got in my way – by that I mean he was in the same room as me so I didn't get any peace, lol. I'm looking forward to a quiet day today instead.

Scampi was a star yesterday (why can't that be his 'normal'?!) and I'm hoping he's the same today. I have a bit of housework to do then I want to get on with my crochet stuff. I have things to make, things to take photos of, things I want to write about, packaging to sort. I'm so behind with it all at the moment and I really need to get back on track.

Morning folks and thanks REDRUBY for starting us off. A glorious start here, the sun has got his hat on and it sounds a big improvement on yesterday when it rained, on and off, all day until teatime. It meant we were housebound with the 3 girls and I was exhausted by the time DD collected them!

Today I have the delights of the postponed Friday clean round and I don't feel a bit like it. I hate cleaning on a Saturday. The washing basket is overflowing too so first job will be to get the wm going. At some point I need to colour my hair too as we have a big family gathering tomorrow and I'm not going with grey roots!!

Have a good day and (((HUGS))) where wanted. Take care all and I hope the sun is shining on you xx

Editing to add the chalet looks gorgeous TRU. Small it might be but with that view I wouldn't care! We spent many a happy holiday in Carbis Bay many, many years ago, with two kids and two dogs and I keep promising myself we'll go back.

    Morning everyone

redruby - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy and overcast here this morning, drying up underfoot.

DH and myself enjoying first peaceful cuppas of the day, I'm showered and dressed, now eating brekkie whilst on here. DH eating brekkie and drinking his cuppa watching catchup tv. Both boys still in their pits.

I'm working this morning, DH and boys going to run a couple of errands, whilst I'm working. Will visit the parents/outlaws this afternoon.

Dinner tonight will be prawn/chicken korma, rice, accompaniments.

I did get some things done yesterday, although not as much as I would have liked. Got to the SM early and got done very quickly as it was so quiet. Went to get my meat and few bits I can't get in A**i from MrM, and didn't like the look of the meat joints so went to the butchery counter and what they had looked much better and I chose a boneless shoulder of pork - assistant weighed it and it was only £3.75 - it was on offer at £2 per kg - the lowest price it's been for ages. It's quite a decent sized joint so that's my bargain of the week! So tomorrow we'll be having roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, HG green beans, peas, yorkshires and gravy. I did also manage to get some baking done, made 2 doz fruit cupcakes, made the pastry for mince pies and jam tarts, but was so crumbly it just fell apart as I was trying to handle it so gave up and chucked it away, not happy as I thought I'd got to grips with making pastry and whilst it's not brilliant is edible, this wasn't usable, edible only bin-able!

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

Thanks for the thread redruby. I bet Evie will look splendid with a new hairdo.

Tru - well done on getting a great place.

Yesterday I spent most of the day in the kitchen batch cooking. Today I'll be doing the same as I really want to use up the 'tons' of raw meat in the freezer and replace it with cooked food.

Last night I took out the four packets of lambs liver from the freezer so it'll be a liver and onion fest today.

There's a lovely couple who come every year to stay in a holiday cottage nearby and we always meet up once for a glass of wine and chat. They drive over from Brussels with their elderly dog. Anyway, they leave today do I'm going over with a tin of Scotty dog shortbread for them to take back. Such nice people.

Rain again after the beautiful day yesterday so I'm glad I did the bedding wash.

I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday.

    Morning everyone,

Dull and overcast here, am hoping it brightens up later. We are going over to see Mum as there is a steam rally in her village and she fancies a walk down to the meadow. She seems to have picked up a bit this week, eating better etc, looking forward to seeing her.

Yesterday was fairly productive but did manage to spend some time outside reading. Little Tilly has discovered the delights of the swing seat and is more than happy to snuggle up next to me. She is moulting as well RR and the hair quickly tangles in her ears so have sneakily started taking the brush out to the seat with me and doing her ears whilst she sits there.

Not much else planned, hedges are finished so will get some washing out on the line and generally just potter this morning.

Big congrats on the job offer Speky.

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

Good Morning chums up bright and early today and polished off the bit of ironing and just about to have some breakfast then a shower I have a hairdressers appointment this morning as I am off gallivanting to a party tonight My sis-in-law has a surprise party booked by her DD at a hostelry in Faversham tonight I booked myself into a local B&B so I can have a glass of wine or two with her Its her 70th Birthday and she knows nothing about it.She is at present on her way home from France so I hope she won't be too tired :)I'm just staying overnight then tomorrow coming home and will pick up DD and DGS if the weather is good and we will probably go to Westgate as we all enjoy it there.
This weekend will all be about enjoying ourselves and not a food shop or housework to be done After the traumatic week DD has had I am hoping her mouth is feeling better and she can slowly start to eat a little bit more
Hope everyone has a great weekend what ever they are doing New month on Monday :):):)the time is just whizzing by

    Cheers chums JackieO xxx
  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one. Awake early, have just had my breakfast, it was bright but seems to have clouded over. We had rain last night and it looks like we might be in for some more. I need to have a look at the garden, pick beans and courgette. Also look at the caulks, we had to ditch three the other day they just were almost green. We have never really had any luck with them, so will not grow them again.

Will be hospital visiting this afternoon, going in at lunchtime tomorrow, I need to hit Lidl for a few things. I plan to do a freezer audit and do the August menu list, then do a months shop on Monday, then I will not have to go shopping for a couple of weeks at least. If I really cannot manage out when OH comes home, I will order from Morrison and get it delivered. It might be a little more expensive, but will give me peace of mind.

Good morning, redruby et Al, thank you for the thread.
Tru, that looks really lovely, and it doesn't matter really if it is a bit small when you get there, does it, you will have that beautiful view!

A beautiful morning here, bright but clear and lovely crispness to the air, so all windows open. Though a wasp came in, I very bravely ushered it out. I am a bit of a wimp around wasps, I really hate them.

I am working later, did some paperwork yesterday. I managed to resist the temptation to do one job myself (often quicker) and asked the person responsible to do it.

I did some cleaning and tidying when I closed the laptop down but it is never-ending and sometimes if I work away, I dread coming back as there it will all be, waiting for me.

OH installed Windows 10 on his laptop yesterday as it was the last free installation day and apparently the programme he has or had in use will no longer be supported by micr*soft, they will stop updating it or something.

Not my turn to cook today, OH makes a big production of Saturday dinner, his presentation is miles better than mine. Last night I made meatloaf, mashed potatoes with carrots as we had eaten up all the green veg. Today is OH's shopping day. I think he's going to Mr M but he chooses whichever sm has sent him the better deal so it could be Mr T or Sainsbobs.

My work phone has decided not to synchronise with my laptop so I cannot check my calendar unless I put the ancient laptop on. It gives instructions how to fix this but it seems to rely o pressing a button that I do not have. The instructions for password resets are equally odd, you get so far and then are told to do something or other but I found that mine did the rest without human intervention.

Time for toast and a look at the paper I think. Hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning all
Thanks for starting the thread RR.
    Congrats to Speky.
    What a view Tru.
I'm having a grump, the nearer it gets to moving, the more things I realise I'm going to miss.
I start cat sitting today and I need to give our guest a lift to the care home to see his mum, she moved in last week from one he wasn't happy with. He lives in Cornwall so only visits once or twice a year, I'm expecting to be asked to keep an eye on things.
Onwards and forwards as Judi would say, or Titus & Teeth, eh Monna
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester.
    Chin up, Titus out.

Deleted_User if you want a food delivery, we have found that MrT and Sainsbobs often Tey to entice us with free or ultra cheap delivery costs or vouchers that more tan mop up the cost of delivery.
