I work in the most demanding job I have ever done , with long hours, tight deadlines and constant targets......and I love it! Genuinely, right now, my career is far from what I ever thought it would be, and I am the happiest I could be with it!0

Loved my last job until they changed my manager and then it became dreadful. Until the change of manager, I loved the quality of work, the ability to influence and have a direct impact upon the business and really see myself staying there for another 20 years.
Left 4 weeks ago and can't say I miss it - the impact on health at the end really wasn't worth it. Don't have anything else lined up at the moment, but enjoying not waking up every morning dreading it.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
I love my job, until recently I was working for an exam board and pgce students, now I work two days a week teaching vehicle mechanics (which I used to do in my early twenties), and I really enjoy it.0

Sounds familiar. I left my job last year with no job to go to. Temped for a few months, and now have a permanent role. Like you by the sounds of it, I was used to hard work and having an impact, and enjoyed the work. However, I've not looked back and I'm in quite a different role in terms of responsibility and even expectations. My role is no longer target driven at all. I get paid a bit less, but I get a lot more holidays, so it makes up for it. And a very short commute.
Hope it works out for you too.0 -

The hours are OK, no weekend work but it is mind-numbingly boring.
I would look for something else but there is precious little out there for someone in my situation.
what would you do instead?0 -
I love my job been here since leaving uni, now joint director of the software co. My staff seem to like it here too. We're flexible with start times and lunches, if staff want a couple of hours, no problem. We don't track holiday requests formally, (after first 12 months anyway), full pay even if off sick/maternity (staff are hardly ever 'ill'), get to play pool, there's a dart board other end of office, barbecues and beer next to the river outside the office, play games consoles, watch TV, take our quadcopters out, we've been on group holidays and we sometimes go out drinking (when we're not sick of the sight of each other!). Its like working with a bunch of mates, except we get paid (very well) for it, our 18 year old apprentices get near £8 an hour even though legal is something insulting like £3.50 for example. Work hard, play harder. If someone is struggling, then staff are more than willing to help out even 'after hours'. Not lost a member of staff yet, doubled size of workforce over last 5 years. Company is making more in a month that we used to in a year, happy staff, happy company.
Have you got any vacancies? I'd love to work for you!0 -

Sounds a really good employer, a good idea to have consoles etc as the staff get to relax.0 -
I enjoy my job and more importantly the people I work with - and there is a direct correlation.
My work is project based and while I usually very busy it comes with it's ups and downs. Surprising the only time I don't enjoy work is when I am in-between projects or immediately after holiday (usually in between projects), mind wonders all the time and I look forward to life outside the rat race,, but the thought does not even cross my mind when I am super busy for long periods.0
