Dell PC

Has anyone any idea how long delivery takes with Dell?

Ordered a Dell Vostro at the weekend and still haven't received e-mail confirmation.

Any ideas on average delivery times, when they send you an e-mail etc?

Thanks

It used to be 7-10 working days. They are built to order.

    :)

I think that most people recieve them in 5-7 working days.

The time frame when I worked there was this.

    Machine build = 1day

Transport from Factory to UK = 1day

Transport from Uk port to Central sorting hub = 1day

Transport from Central sorting hub to Local delivery company = 1day

Transport from local company to you = 1 day.

They are simplified. A machine build can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 15 minutes but then they are all tested before shipping. With a good wind and a bit of luck you can cut 2 days of the timing above.

You should get email confirmation from them quite quickly after ordering. Did you check your junk mail folders?

    Cheers,

Find out what the delivery time is from dell the normally send within 10 working days. Call the call centre help line I think they are based in india. If they say delivery will take more than 10 days then make a complaint and let them no you are very dissapointed with the delay for them delivering so late. hopefully you should be able to get something out of them. When I ordered my dell pc I managed to get a Digit camera out of them. It was a Kodak 3.2 mega pixel camera.

Actually they gave me choice between a digital camera, a web cam and I cant remember what the 3rd thing was.
  • well i#ve been waiting over 3mths now.. wating to hear from a supervisor so i can complain. Dell are a joke!

    Got mine within a week!
  • We got all ours in about a week - you should be able to check order progress on the website.

  • Spoke to Dell customer services today (poor guy had no idea what I was saying...language barrier and all that) but it turns out that my order never went through!

The only problem is that now the PC I ordered has gone up by £40!!!!

Are Dell at all approachable about discounting prices?

If not has anyone any idea's of another cheap PC shop/supplier (less than £250 for just the base unit)

    Thanks
  • Ordered mine on the 9th Sept, and they've estimated my delivery to be the 27th Sept! And checking the order progress, it started pre-production on the 10th Sept, and hasn't changed since!

    Should I complain???

i'm on the phone, well on hold, to dell as i type

i ordered a laptop on sept 7th, estimated delivery sept 20th

its the 17th today, 10 days since i ordered, and 3 days before its supposed to be delivered and they've not even started making it yet!?
  • Hi. Ordered a Vostro laptop on 12th, estimated delivery 27th Sept. Had a phone call Friday to say delivery will be tomorrow (19th).

This is the second PC/laptop purchase we have made and both times they have been very quick to deliver (ordered on-line, not by phone). Was able to use the tracker link in their e-mail confirmation to see what was happening - worked well for me.

    Hope yours turns up soon!!

  • I ordered mine on 31st August and the estimated delivery date was on 17th of September, today, and I've just received it. The pre-production took it until the 13th of September, so don't worry. Just check your order status everyday.

I rather talk to them on the web chat than online, it takes less time, honestly.

About the £40 extra I doubt it, must got some improvements. Try another configuration as a starting computer and take out the pieces you don't want, getting the same configurations doing this I got a price different of £70, so it's worthy to try.
