Dell PC

  • It took over 4 weeks for my desk top to arrive. The price went down by £30. Then delivery was a joke one part arrived on the Friday. The second part did not arrive till the Monday. after some shouting. Dell refunded me the £30 difference. They then gave me another £11 back but they did state the maximum they will refund is 10% of the purchase price.

Hope that helps and does not upset you even more

i'm on the phone, well on hold, to dell as i type

i ordered a laptop on sept 7th, estimated delivery sept 20th

its the 17th today, 10 days since i ordered, and 3 days before its supposed to be delivered and they've not even started making it yet!?

update on the above, it's now 22nd september and i have a new estimated delivery date of 25th october!!!!

i will be cancelling as soon as i can find a similar spec elsewhere for the same kind of money
  • I ordered mine in July 22nd. Was quoted 4 weeks delivery. Then got told a day before that everything was on schedule and then BANG! 5 Weeks delay!! I was very angry!!
THen I cancelled... and reordered as it worked out cheaper and quicker to reored than to wait and I could get a better spec system for the same price.
I ordered again on August 22nd - Estimated delivery date 24th Sept. then got a call yesterday to say everything is on schedule ( By UK Customer Service expert Praveen) and then BANG! 5 WEEKS DELAY AGAIN!!! I'm making my 10th complaint now. btw.. My new estimated delivery dat is the 25th October! VERY dissatisfied. Worse when they told me repeatedly all the way through that it is on schedule.
  • I ordered on 20th Sept, the estimated delivery date was 3rd October. Just checked the order status and it is already with the courier with the expected delivery date being 25th September! Obviously I won't count my chickens yet but 4 working days including the delivery date seems pretty good to me - it's a Dell Vostro PC if that makes any difference.
  • Ordered Vostro on 19th july still waiting Dell are a complete joke
  • I guess that's why they are no longer the world's favourite PC supplier... and in that same thought, I along with millions of others, wholeheartedly recommend HP. It's not customisable here (unlike in the States) but the components are better in the HP's and the build quality is superb.
  • Just to add more gloom and despondency, I ordered an Inspiron 6400 on 10 Sep. The order tracking had its status as pre-production with an estimated delivery "on or before" 21 Sep. On 19 Sep I emailed Dell to clarify this - 2 days to build and deliver the PC seemed a bit ambitious! Dell phoned me the following day to say it was actually in production, and the delivery estimate was 21 or 24 Sep. Today I get an email announcing that due to production problems my delivery estimate is now 25 Oct. Needless to say I have emailed them canceling the order and will go and buy something from Staples.

Anyone have any experience of canceling an order with Dell? They have not yet charged my credit card, so I hope it will not end up in some silly wrangle.
  • My delivery has also been put back to 25th October.I originally ordered Vostro 1000 back in July Dell told me because of limited glass screens order would be delayed weeks suggested if i went for 6400 theY are only days for delivery. As i see it Carphonewarehouse came along in July with order of 100,000 laptops for free AOL offer and have now ordered another 60,000 so we can all go to back the queue,Dells c/s stinks think i will also go to Staples.Dell supposed to be phoning me tomorrow with update cant wait

  • Now I'm assuming the "minimum delays expected" is in addition to the standard build/delivery anyway.
Don't think I'll be looking there as I want a laptop before Christmas:rotfl:
