I have read the whole thread.

The post you quote doesn't make sense:

I assume there is a typo in it

It could read that according to the insurer they have "no" record of the SAC!

    Unless you know better??

I assumed from the phasing of the remainder of the sentence since to makes no sense in that sentence whereas no makes sense.

However the OP says he did inform them. So he isn't just now informing them as you attest.

Now it may be that they failed to put it on the system. On the next rrenewal, how is the OP to know they have failed to do so. He was offered renewals and in good faith he accepted them at the price offered. How can he be expected to renegotiate this now after the time. So if they changed the price retrospectively I would be taking it further. he should not be put to a disadvantage due to their error.

That is why you need to be aware they may want paying increased premiums for previous years. (If attending a SAC does mean they load the premium)

Except if he had informed them (and bearing in mind all insurance call centres within the Admiral group record ALL calls - my wife was until very recently a supervisor there) and they failed to record it, and then they offered him insurance at a given price which he accepted in good faith, if they asked for money I would be speaking to the ombudsman about it.

Maybe check your email history for a confirmation from the people who organised the course (might be TTC?)

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Your scenario is a different one to the one I am commenting on.

Obviously if the OP can prove he did notify them of his attendance then he should not be involved in any other charges now.

(Though you say your wife says when she worked there they used to record all calls except the ones they "failed to record"?? Sounds like they have a get out there!)

FYI you can speak to the ombudsman call centre at any time, however you cannot escalate a complaint there until first making a complaint to the insurer.

Then if you are unhappy with their reply or they ignore you for 8 weeks you can escalate the complaint to the FOS for their adjudication.

checkyour email. I renewed with Admiral last week and spoke with them to reduce the quote (went from £773 to £640 ish, just with a 5 min phone call).

Anyway I declared an old SAC. Couldnt remember the exact date but a quick search of my email client revealed the email confirmation of the booking. I was able to give Admiral the exact date of the course
