I want to stop drowning

Morning,
I've just made a payment of £38.77 to the capital one and £50 to the barclaycard. The aim is to clear both by Christmas but don't think I'm going to be able to do it as the current balances now will be:
£1400
£4400
I would love to as it would reduce our minimums by £130 a month!
Who knows, will def need to get back on track with money but in the mean time am off again today and really want to stick to a budget!
Here is hoping for lots of sales whilst I'm away!0 -
I'm feeling a bit strange today. I'm away but don't feel that happy, I've realised that I book a holiday or spend money but then I just feel guilty/annoyed when I'm there. I've already been thinking about next year and my husband and I would love to take the kids abroad but how can that happen. Just worked out as things stand our cc debt won't be cleared until another 8 years:eek: that really depeesses me as we are not home owners . Really don't know what to do, feel really fed up0

Morning, Just read through your diary and i know you may not feel it, you are doing really well.
your focussed and now know where your money is going, so thats a huge bonus..( I have just rejoined as have massively lost my way but lets not talk about that)..
When I was focussed after various ways I found that minimum payments on all and focussing on 1 debt ( usually the smallest) was better for me as when it went I felt like I was achieving something and it helped keep me motivated..so looking at a previous post if the £1400 you owe on either Cap One or B/Card is doable by Christmas focus on that, its amazing how good it feels to say goodbye to them..
Good luck and will be following with interest. x2012 The year I started dealing with my debts.
2017. Lets start this again shall we?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my diary. I think you are right I need to focus on one at a time and the capital one is the smallest balance and highest interest rate. I think it will be more achievable.
My weight gets me down too, new aim:
Lose at least a stone by end of October 2016 and clear and close capital one by 31st December 2016.
I am going to do this!
I will update my signature with regards to my weight on Sunday evenings and money as and when I make payments.0 -
By the way as I'm away, diet won't start until Sunday and I will try and save money but am away:)0

Enjoy your time away, and make sure once you get home you set a budget. Include things in it such as nights out, trips, etc. so that you can enjoy them and not worry once you're away.
I'm always worrying about my weight. I'm waiting for a Tesco delivery and then going to spend a couple of hours preparing healthy 'dump meals' for the freezer/slow cooker. This means that all I'll need to do is defrost them and pop them in the slow cooker. I figure it will make life a bit easier and will stop us reaching for the unhealthy meals/takeaways.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
I have just read your diary and well done on trying to stay on budget while away. I used to counsel people with debt and mortgage arrears and often people did as you have done and booked holidays, paid out for gadgets and so on for their kids as they did not like to deprive them of all the things they feel other people provide for their family. I would say to you as I did to them that the odd treat is fine so long as it is budgeted for but often they would find as you have done that booking holidays would often lead to feelings of guilt so they would not enjoy them. Your kids would rather have a mum and dad less anxious about debt I am sure and doing as you do and day trips with vouchers and picnics or meals out with vouchers are just as good. Just say to yourself when you are debt free you will have so much spare money you are currently paying to debt which can then be used for treats.
Is the debt increasing or decreasing? Setting a budget and working with cash rather than cards is a good way of sticking to the budget.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thank you both for replying. Those dump meals sound good! I am going to def get more focused when I get back as I always get annoyed with myself that I set targets to lose weight but never do it, well not this time-it's on my signature so I have to do it!
That is spot on enthusasticsaver, I think my children especially the younger two as I have a typical teenager who thinks money grows on trees will prefer a happy less stessful mummy then materialistic goods.
I will cash the month's money out and make sure I stick to it. I have to or I will be having to start using the credit cards again soon which is not going to happen:eek: The debt has started to very very slowly decrease, it's been hard as we previosuly did money transfers to survive but my cc seemed to have stopped them which is probably a blessing in disguise. Money is going too fast on this trip and mainly on food:mad:0 -
enjoy your break, knowing that you have a plan for when you get back.
enjoy the time with the family as soon enough they will all be back at school/college etc. You can get organised when you get back.
