Thanks. That's my argument I have with my daughter too. She is border line a 'c' but has potential of higher but they won't put her in for the higher paper unless she gets a 'c' in her mocks. ( I know it's numbers now but equivalent)

So I have been having a think today about the debts to pay off first and my dilemmas are:

    Do I pay :

-the cards that are on low lifelong interests
    - focus on paying the one where interest will start sooner but have got potential of balance transferring this
    - paying as much off the one where the minimum is high plus is ending in July next year
    - paying a bit off everything

I really can't decide what's best to do, I'm very tempted to focus on the one where the minimum is so high as the monthly saving will really help but likewise my Tesco ends earlier plus I'm paying 6.9% on other cards which all adds up!

    Morning,

I have been thinking a lot about all the advice I've been given on here. I've changed to sim only and will do the same with the other two in March. I spoke to dh about the council tax over 12 months and he said it's nice to have the two month break. We are going to look into the alarm as it's out of contract in October. The tutor is a difficult one but am thinking of keeping it but maybe reducing it. I think for the next few months I won't save as have savings which should cover quite a lot and will focus on the debt repayments. With regards to the cc repayments I think l'll focus on the Tesco cc and the high barclaycard minimum . The reason I think this is best is because the cc on 6.9% is a lower rate than what the other one will go on next year, it will be 12.9% plus higher balance so think in the long run I'll be paying more interest.

Sorry for so many posts lately but am feeling very focused!

I need to cut my odd spending as well as really all adds up, I think it's only £1 but in a month I've spent £40 on chocolate and croissants!i might put a pot for treats on payday. I'm going to challenge myself to no spend days, I won't include posting my items or paying minimums but will include everything else.

I need to also really cut down on my present buying!
  • Morning, have tried this snowball calculator, It breaks everything down and shows you what to pay first and how much interest you will save.

Sounds like a really good plan you have there. Treat jar is good. Don't apologise for posting. Many people find when they are feeling like straying they go back to posts when they are feeling focussed which you are definitely sounding at the moment. Doing the snowball is a good idea but I definitely think the 6.9% smaller Barclaycard is a good one to focus on and the Tesco one with deal expiring in April. Getting your minimums down by clearing the cards one by one will motivate you. Eventually you will get to a budget you are comfortable with.

Once I'm back and work and earning again, we've decided to budget for a treat pot every month. It's so easy to pop to the shops because I fancy something and then wondering where the money is coming from.

Thanks. I'll definitely look at the snowball calculator and may challenge myself to try and clear all 3 asap! When I get back I need to submit my tax return as owed £40, sell clothing I bought really cheap but selling for £50 on eBay, look at surveys daily. Sort spreadsheets out and pots.

    Morning,

I still haven't touched the £250 allocated for this stay and have another £10 left from gift money so am very pleased. I know we will start using it today but think we may have some to take home with us.

I have some unexpected expenses, my daughter needs a new sch bag and my baby ( actually a toddler ) needs new shoes and we only bought her a new pair June! I will use the savings for this.
