    Hi,

I have had quite a productive day so far:

    Cancelled Sky
Phoned the hospitals and still no results:mad: ( 9 weeks for one so far)
I've taken up barclaycard on a 0% offer and haggled the fee ( I didn't realise that I was paying interest on £300 so transferred that as well as another balance that is on 4.9%) it will save £5 a month on minimums but the main saving is on the interest.

Slow puncture has been fixed but they are asking for £20 but have asked my husband to try and haggle that as well so fingers crossed!

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

We had to pay the £20 for the tyre repair , still cheaper than a new tyre. I am pleased with the savings I've made recently. I will need to make sure over the next few days that the transfers go through ok and will be interested to see how much my minimums will be. I'm aiming to make another payment tomorrow to get me over the £1k of payments this month.

    Hi,

Nothing major to update, the balance transfers haven't completed yet. I made another payment today so have now cleared 1k of debt since last month. Next month will be tight so think I will have to just stick to the minimums as I end up overpaying and then struggle. I haven't had a nsd as went to a friend's house and bought some cakes and I also need to pick a few bits up from the shop.

Hope everyone is having a nice day.
  • A £1K in a month is brilliant, well done :)

Hope the balance transfers happen quickly...they never rush do they?

Enjoy the cakes and your visit to your friends x

Thanks. I'm hoping they will clear tomorrow.

Cakes were lovely but naughty, I'm meant to be trying to be good and not put on weight but I've done nearly 20000 steps today so feel I'm allowed :p

with a larger debt figure a lot of people find it helpful to break it into chunks and concentrate on just tackling one chunk at a time - maybe look at 1% of your starting figure - 100 payments of that amount will get you cleared, that sort of approach? Can seem less daunting than the massive scary figure!

Well there is my nsd gone already, hubby has just phoned on his way back from work to say we need air in a tyre again so can I get some change for him ready. He thinks we have a slow puncture as he only put air in the other day!

Not sure about other supermarkets, but my local sainsbury's doesn't charge for air.

I always use quikfit for my tyre repair. The last one I got done for £5 (probably beer money).

I have several spreadsheets that I look at daily including one showing all our debt and one showing how much we pay off each month ( this one is new).

If your spending is caused by impulsiveness then looking at it every day is a good way of reminding yourself not to be so impulsive. If however the spending is caused by a lack of self esteem then you might be setting yourself up for a fail. Take some time to relax and do some soul searching. Smiling meditation can do wonders. Whatever it was that let you get so far into debt, can be solved if you're kind to yourself.

I update my spreadsheet once a month (on roughly the same day of the month) & keep each month, so I can see how the values change.

In terms of food shopping, I reduced the number of ready meals & processed food. I always went sugar/wheat/potato free, which really improved the quality of food I was eating. It also seems to have reduced how much I spent (maybe £30 a week now for me). Although I don't have kids, so don't have to deal with the whining because they can't have their favourite cocktail of chemicals. Plus it does take time to prepare meals.

Thanks for your reply, we don't have a Sainsbury's locally and the supermarkets round here charge but we have now got the tyre fixed so fingers crossed it lasts.

I don't impulse buy , it's more I feel the children shouldn't miss out. I cook fresh already. I'm a family of five but always have guests so it's like me feeding 6 ppl most of the week. The only area in food I can cut down on is the odd treat as they add up ( I only think it's £1 but that adds up).

    Morning,

I am hoping my transfers have all gone through today as then I can update the spreadsheets. I may have my second nsd in June today!

    Today's list:

    Change bed sheets
    Washing
    Check all accounts
    Update spreadsheets
Ring school and ask about work experience
Post items ( a few small sales , this money will help top up fuel)

My mum gave me £20 yesterday but I haven't decided what to do with it yet.

That's all I can think of for now.

    Have a lovely day.

I am pleased to say all transfers have gone through and the barclaycard refund for the fee has gone through as well. I've updated all the spreadsheets. I need to really clear £2100 asap as from July I will be paying 10% interest, which means if I only pay the minimum because of the interest it will take 7 years to clear  I don't think so! I am going to try and throw every extra penny into this as want to clear it asap.

    Wash load one is on.

Just thinking about summer spending money and how much I need:

We are staying at friends house for a few nights and normally treat them to a takeaway so will allocate £100 for this.
We are then going away in the UK but it's self catering , we have some things already booked and paid for but still will allocate £250 for this break for meals , drinks and treats.
I then will allocate another £50 for the whole summer holidays= £400 needed in total. I have this money in a pot. In fact I have a bit more than this which I may still allocate to holidays as I have reduced my food budget for August due to holidays so this money can go towards that.

I am also looking at my spreadsheets again and they aren't realistic as they haven't included dd or ds bdays that are coming up and I need to buy them something plus we will have people over for this so need to allocate money for extra food.

Off I go and try and play around with the spreadsheets again!
