    Hi Lovely,

From what I grasp is that although a DMP can take several years to clear, the actual defaults will be on your file for 6 years and then they fall off regardless of whether you are still on the DMP or not and they can't be reapplied to your credit file either.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon xx

    This was my understanding too.

You do pay your debts back but there’s normally no interest so you can actually pay them back whereas now it’s cisting you that much in interest you will still be here in decades

    Thanks everyone.

I've been thinking a lot and will re-evaluate in September as a lot will depend over the next three months with how I get on.

My plan is to clear the balance that is paying interest on the barclaycard once the bill has been created. Clear as much as I can to see where I stand with the minimums and the outgoings. By then I will also know how the second job is working out for me. I will then see if I still have a deficit ( I want to also be saving as per my soa) then I will have no choice but to do a Dmp. This is it my final attempt.

    Goals-

Be under 10 stone by mid July
By end of September be at a point where I can save and afford all minimums if not do a dmp
By end of 2020 depending on finances look at further education

I know not everyone will agree with this but it's my final attempt.

Have sold some bits on eBay so have made £45... towards the barclaycard

    Hi debtaghh

Some people may not agree but you have to do what works for you. If in the end you do finish up going down the DMP route then no one can say you never tried.

What sort of further education was you thinking of. I do online courses (which are often at discount prices). The site is 'The course mix'. I did a learning mentor one over 6 weeks and I have just completed a sign language one and I paid £19. It's all online and done in your own time and will add lots to your CV.

September is also not that far away and good luck with the weight loss. Sometimes I wonder if we are the same person :rotfl:

    Hi,

I've been really busy lately with work and doing extra shifts. I've also been selling a lot on eBay and have made a couple of hundred pounds. DH gets paid next week, I will then pay the barclaycard balance that is being charged interest😀

Great that you have been making more money. How about breaking the debts down individually and targeting them one at a time? It might make the debt busting less overwhelming? So you could put the Barclaycard down as your first target debt? Just an idea.

    Hi,

My plan is to pay the £1462 off the barclaycard and then :

    £3523 off my tesco
    £4097 off my barclaycard

I might use some of the savings for this as from September I have factored in saving every month.

By me paying the above amounts off I will save money on interest and my minimums will be reduced by at least £150!
