I feel like I haven't progressed at all since starting this journey and the truth is I don't think I've really had my proper lightbulb moment. I completely hate the debt and want it gone but I also make silly financial choices. I don't always own up to them on here as I'm embarrassed : I've booked a holiday for this year and two mini breaks for next year one due to big bday celebration. Please don't have a go at me as I know I shouldn't be going away when in debt.

I'm going to try a soa but I can never do the official one for some reason so here is my version:

    Rent £1300
    Council tax £216
    Gas and electricity £100
    Water £50
Mobiles £62 ( 3 mobiles all in contract)
Sky tv £35( Includes phone line, internet and tv)
    House alarm £27
Pre payment prescriptions £20.50 ( me and my husband both go through several prescriptions a month so this is cheapest option)
    School donation £2
Food shopping £350 ( family of 5 but trying to cut down)
    Fuel £180
Entertainment £100 ( includes any hair cuts needed and did swimminv lessins and football )
    Holiday £100
Xmas/bdays £100 ( I know this is too high and the holiday)
    Car £50
    Emergency fund £50
    Tv licence/ contents insurance £20
    Clothes/shoes £30 ( including new sch uniform/bag)
    Car insurance. £30
    Car insurance 2 £25
    Dad cc £50 ( 0% until 2020)
    Mbna £120
    Barclaycard. £220
    Tesco. £130
    Nuba. £70
    Halifax. £80
    Dh Tesco £50
    Dh Barclaycard. £220
    Tesco £120
    Dad cc 2. £40

    Total outgoings. £3847.50

    Dh basic £2505
    Child benefit £197
    My income £430
    2nd job income( fingers crossed)£210

    Total income. £3342

    Monthly shortfall. - £505.20

Points to note: this is based from September. The second job I'm trying out and hoping all will be ok. I'm hoping to have managed to get my debt a bit lower so my minimums will be very slightly reduced. In January I will start having to pay my mum back again and in May my dad. I have allocated money to save as that is really what I would like to be doing. I know people will say you shouldn't spend £1200 on bday and Xmas but that includes parties, teachers gifts, Father's Day , Mother's Day etc and is the minimum of what I spend so I'm trying to be honest and don't see the point of agreeing an unrealistic amount and then spend what I've said anyway. Don't get me wrong I'll try and cut back which is what I've been doing but I have several big bdays over the next 12 months.

Council tax is over 10 months.

My dh could potentially do overtime as could I in the second job on a regular basis but I haven't logged them as at the minute it's not guaranteed.

I feel I could cut back every so often on the food and have a very frugal month. Any other ideas?

I'm going to pay all of the balance that I'm being charged interest on when the new bill is made if not I'll have to pay another minimum when the bill comes on top of this.

Glad to hear you and OH are discussing money together. That's great, he needs to sharing the strain so you are in it together. Great stuff.

Your plans all seem to be at odds with each other. Booking holidays before you are solvent is not going to reduce your debt and will likely increase it. Maybe see the holidays as a planned spend? You could do some work on damage limitation and work out where you are going to borrow the money from on the lowest interest rate you can find? That might help.

I'm going to duck out of your diary now but wish you all the very best with figuring it out.

That's why in my soa I've allocated a holiday category.

Sorry that you're not wanting to read my diary anymore , thanks for all the advice.

I've tried to be honest here and I know people won't like some of my choices and even be frustrated as you have spent the time to give advice etc. I have always read every comment and taken it on board which is why I spoke to dh about what cc to clear.

I'm grateful for everyone's replies over the years but to be honest I may stop my diary as I don't want to be frustrating people to the extent that people feel like they don't want to read my diary.

Thanks for everyone's help and guidance over the years.

Babystepper has offered you some great advice so I would just accept that . People all have different views on debt .

Don't leave your diary , it would be such a shame. Of course it is your decision entirely. Good luck with your debt busting .
