  • I'm sure this must have been asked before - so forgive me if I am going over old ground. Would you still follow all the OS ways if you won the lottery tonight? I think I would, albeit I would love to live in the middle of London (with a blue Aga of course)!! I'd still want to cook properly and after all these years penny pinching I can't see myself in designer clothes - if you saw me you'd know why I think the idea is funny.
  • I would buy a huge 5 bedroom house in the countryside and have a pantry for all my stockpiled food - 2 freezers and 2 fridges and have my meat and veg delivered by riverford. I would also buy a brand new gorgeous car for me and one for the family to use and have a swimming pool so i can teach swimming for free to kids that can't afford lessons :)

    Just my lil old dream
DFW since JAN 2009 - 2014 will be the year i finally clear debts :) Just to see which month :))))

I'd buy a really old cottage with 100 acres. I'd rent 50 of the acres to 20 families at a ridiculous rent of like £1 a week, so they could have 2.5 acres each. Families who would otherwise never be able to afford to live somewhere with land. Assuming i could get PP, i'd let them each put a mobile home on their plot of land so they could live there and use the land to be as self sufficient as possible.

The other 50 acres i'd use for grazing cattle and sheep, horses, chickens, pigs & ducks. I'd also have a 2 acre veggie plot all for me :D

I'd never go out, and i'd be a virtual recluse living in the country with my family and animals.. just the way i like it :D
  • I'd love to say I would but I think my OH would protest, he already protests my OS ways and we're not exactly rolling in cash right now, so if we won the lottery I'd have no chance

  • I don't think I would continue being quite so spendthrift, though if I won the lottery I wouldn't be extravagant about it though. There was a study recently that showed winning the lottery had no health benefits, and no guarentee of financial stability (Something like 1 in 10 lottery winners went bankrupt??). I'd buy a nice place outright, and probably get a car, and then the rest go in the bank/under the matress.

Though if I won the lottery TONIGHT, I'd quit my job - just till my exams are over at least XD

I would buy a big place in the country with land and keep chickens and pigs and grow all my own veggies, I would maybe stop wearing jeans when they get holes in at the knee though!! I dont think I could bring myself to spend, spend, spend for the sake of it as I know I would not get any happiness from it, so I would stick to my OS ways!

I'd just keep on working as an IT Tech' in a state school until the money ran out.

I'd pay off my mortgage buy a car can't quite afford one atm and buy a hugggeeeeee new extention and have an awsome kitchen to cook lots of yummy things in... Appart from that i'd probably save the money and live off the interest until i figured how to spend it productively.
And in the meantime i wouldnt tell anyone ;) maybe my OH guess i couldn't keep it from him. hehe
