Good morning everyone,
Had a lovely day yesterday. My work colleagues surprised me with a cake and the full collection of the Game of Thrones books. Very thoughtful. The evening was mostly spent round the dinner table with family and good food. A thoroughly enjoyable birthday indeed.
Back to normality now, work today hopefully followed by a gym session later. Apart from that, no plans.
Thanks again everyone for the kind birthday messages yesterday!
csarina - Hope your DH is feeling better soon.
camelot - what are you going to see at the cinema?

Have a great day everyone0 -
Hi everyone,
Happy birthday for yesterday Speky. Csarina I hope DH is ok.
TA, I gt a dress for DS' wedding from East yesterday. It's a very light cotton dress because the wedding is in Italy. I've told DH we now need a trip to York next time we're at Hellifield to visit the shop I've found that sell French enamelled jewellery for very reasonable prices. I've got a red necklace and a pink one so now want a blue or turquoise one for the new dress. I do have a couple of things I could wear instead if need be.
DD is off to Italy today to another wedding and then staying in a villa with friends for a week. I hope it's not too hot for her.0 -
Oh well done SNOOZER the dress sounds perfect. DD got married in southern Italy early August - I'll leave you to imagine just how hot it was!!! Upwards of 40 deg! Despite wearing a strappy dress with fine lace over jacket (which was soon whipped off!) I was melting! Hope it's a bit cooler for you in September.
The enamelled jewellery shop sounds interesting, I haven't come across that!
CSARINA I hope by now you have had good news about your DH and he is soon back home with you."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning all, not a great day today Youngest DD phoned me frantically at 7.30 to say the old dog was in a state and he had to go to the vets ,he was fitting and losing his faculties and couldn't even stand bless him She knew his time had come but its still hard he had been a member of the family for 16 and had been a rescue dog from a shelter The boys had grown up with him and he had been so gentle with them as babies .I dressed and flew round there to three sobbing lads and my DD in bits and even her husband was trying manfully not to howl.We had to wait until 8.30 until the vets opened and DD and my son-in-law took him straight away. The vet was very kind and let her stay and hold his head will he slipped peacefully away, and even gave her a cutting from his coat.We will take his ashes when we get them back to the IoW with us and scatter them where he loved to run into the sea, probably at St Helene's duver near Bembridge.Mikey the youngest boy is almost inconsolable bless him as he can never remember a time Ollie wasn't there. I have nipped home quick for an hour to pick a few things up then I will go back and be with the boys and get them talking about their oldest pal.
DD has a dental appointment this afternoon as well so not a good day in their household at all.
Lots of Granny TLC needed and at some point I will have to speak to DGS Ben as he is still in Norwich for another week.
Apart from that its just another day of chaos I think Fingers crossed things will calm down by tonight
Take care all sorry to unload on you all

Oh Jackie, I am so sorry, no words appropriate, just hugs all round.

Oh JACKIE much love to you, your DD and the boys. Having gone through the same with 3 dogs, 2 cats and 2 hamsters during our married life I know just how you are all feeling. They become family members and their loss is felt for a long time.
DD texted earlier to say they were boarding so flight was on time. Just logged on to check L/B arrivals to confirm it. Just time for a bacon sandwich for a quick lunch and then we are setting off. She also said they have missed their favourite curry house and were planning to go for late tea if we want to join them and the girls! I am not a huge curry fan myself but am sure I'll find something on the menu!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
So sorry to hear about the families dear old dog Jackie, what a lovely life he must have had with you all following his rescue, am sure you will have so many memories.
Hugs to you all x0 -

JackieO,oh dear its so horrible when you lose a beloved pet.Lots of hugs for the family.I think we all sobbed when we lost Leo.
Snoozer-I went with a friend to choose a wedding outfit last week and it was really hard. She is quite a large lady so the choice was even more limited. The wedding was the day after too,but she hadnt had enough money before that so I was panicking a bit.Thankfully we found a lovely skirt and floaty top in Marks,in the sale. She rang me on Sunday to thank me for going with her and to say they'd had a lovely time
Doing some admin stuff for DS2,then hope to do something crafty this afternoon.DGD here for tea.Tea is from the freezer from a previous batch cook, beef in madeira sauce. Its not that warm today so it'll be ok.
Good wishes to those having a hard time,& Hilstep hope you are feeling a bit better.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Rosyred, I'm not huge but most clothing is made for the "typical" British pear shape which I am not. I've got big boobs and waist and ridiculously small hips so I find clothes shopping a bit of a nightmare.
Jackie, I'm so sorry about the dog, it can be so traumatic.0
