At least they didn't cut it to 1.23%. :)

Think they missed a trick there ;).

I spotted the rate reduction the other day when I wanted to check some details on the cashback rates. They're also a bit of joke now, designed to barely cover the £5 fee if you max the rates out. Oh well, I had a good run, off to find a replacement.
    Happy chappy

Most, if not all of us in that happy position aren't whinging, we're simply discussing and searching for the best future outcomes for our particular needs. Some of us even try and be helpful.

    Thanks for your contribution though.

I assume by 'with no direct debits' you mean 'with no cashback generating direct debits'

Sorry, should have said "No cashback"

Not whinging, discussing options for the future. This is a moneysaving site you know.

Ive just switched Banks [only time, after 30 years with RBS] to Santander. They have indeed slashed their interest rate - just after we had finished switching, and I wish I had chosen a different Bank with a higher rate - e.g. M&S
Any advice on switching away from Santander? Penalties?

M&S do not pay interest on their current account although a 6% Regular Savings account is offered.

    A switching incentive is offered.

    http://bank.marksandspencer.com/banking/current-accounts/overview/

Halifax offer a switching incentive : there is a monthly reward scheme.

Co-op offers a switching incentive and a monthly reward scheme.

    http://www.co-operativebank.co.uk/

First Direct offers a switching incentive and access to the 6% Regular saver.

Other banks offer no switching incentive but do pay interest on rather smaller amounts than £20,000.

You could switch again ( and indeed again and again).

You can have more than one current account.
