I went in to store today and took back a no7 brush that cost £7 & bought without the £5 voucher, i didnt have my receipt but managed to get the mascara and GWP to exhange it..

i also put through other items @ same time so the total remaining to pay would have been £3.50 (for the mascara ) then the other items...

i then handed over a £5 voucher and she told me i couldnt use this :( is it because the deodrant was on as she said it was giving me the discount on them too.. the till didnt beep so i just said ok... but i wish i hadnt now as it has cost me full price for the mascara and i wanted to use my voucher with it.

:( I dont feel like i'm getting a bargain anymore at boots LOL..

Also, there are three no7 eye make up items on .com for £3.33 and are double price instore. I asked about them and she said that sometimes online there are price differences. Such a shame as they would have been free with voucher but i think i'll buy some as i am going to do a no7 gift basket as a present.

GHDs are notorious for blowing up, but I too would live with the risk of flames as they are the sole thing that has tamed my wild frizzy head!

I'm sure i heard about someone contacting GHD when theres had blown up before and they either got a replacement or some compensation but dont know how old they were but might be worth a try??
  • popped into my local small boots after dropping ds1 at playschool and bought a couple of Heinz baby food for ds2. Didn't realise until I got home that one of them is out of date - sept 11th 2007! Slightly miffed until I actually realised this is the 3rd time this year I have bought out of date baby food from boots. Once at cribbs causeway, this time and the other was the 5mths out of date baby rice from boots.com x 4 packs.I phoned cust serv and the guy said they would ask the store manager to phone me back, unusual tactic I thought? Anyways store manager phoned me back and said oh just pop it in and well have a quick chat and give you a replacement. I know I'm gonna open a can of worms here (BTW I do make majority of ds2 food, I buy jars etc for when he stays with granny/nanny etc) but does anyone else not think they should be taking this matter slightly more seriously, as I myself have purchased out of date baby food 3 times this year alone?

The same thing happened to me late last year. I bought lots of baby food reduced jars as they were making way for new ranges. The staff had put the reduced labels on the top obscuring the BB dates. When I got home I removed the labels and 2 of the jars were out of date by 3 months!! I contacted the store, they panicked and said someone would call me. They rang and apologised and that was it.

I decided to call Trading Standards as was v v angry as it was a jar that contained meat. TS were really quite good. They took details straight away, came round the next day and inspected the jars etc etc. HOWEVER apparently as the jars say BB dates they are NOT breaking the law although ideally it should be made known to the customer that items are past their best. TS went into Boots to examine the other jars and spoke with Boots Manager and they were told off for putting labels over the BB dates. Boots told me their policy is that baby food etc is removed from the shelves 3 months BEFORE the best before date.

I finally got a £20 gift card about 4 months later  Pretty bad really, I had always been careful checking dates anyway but this has made me very very wary. I bought out of date food from Superdrug not long after (sooo annoyed with myself for being in a hurry and forgetting to check dates) they just apologised, no gesture, didnt even give me the replacement free. I think I should have argued a bit more but was with a screaming baby at the time!!

I think you should report it to TS as a least it will help keep your local store on their toes!

Personally I think GHD is well over-rated, and even more over-priced. I'm a big fan of the "Which?" reports and they didn't come out that well in their tests. One of the best was Vidal Sassoon, which I got for a fraction of the price - about £30 and they're fab!

Don't believe the hype and save yourself some money! Isn't that what we're here for?

Has anyone tried using the £5 No.7 voucher on reduced stock? Does it scan through?
My local always accepted them - all went through fine on reduced foundation, nail varnish, suncare. HTH
