The Astra satellite which Sky uses broadcasts many channels free-to-air and entirely independent of a Sky subscription. Freesat is a non-subscription service delivered by the same Astra satellite. The main difference between Freesat-From-Sky (Sky without a card) and Freesat is that the latter offers recording and playback via a suitable decoder.

If you cancel Sky in the future, the free channels alluded to above will still be viewable, but recording will be denied to you without a continued payment to Sky.

I knew there was one i'd been forgetting to ask for the past few days...


If i place my order today (for example) .... 31st July.
And i choose the installation date for in a few weeks time ... 14th August

When does my 12 month contract with Sky begin? Today, or the 14th?

Starts from the date you get the installation done and can receive subscribed channel package.
