Sky TV Installation question

We're probably going to get Sky TV, at least for the first 12 months. We're happy with the price, plus there's the TopCashBack payment for new customers & all in all i'm happy with it.
Q1: Do they do weekend installs?
If it's before 6pm on a weekday then we've no chance. We've no spare holidays left, nobody to leave a key with so it really would have to be after 6pm on a weekday or any time over the weekend.
Although can you be SO specific? Often you can only pick AM/PM slots with places. PM could be 12:00pm.
Q2: We have a dirty old Sky dish already from the previous owners. If i'm shelling out this money then i want a new Sky dish. Will they give me a new one as part of the install or are they likely to try & get away with leaving it as it is?
Q3: TopCashback are offering "Join and get 50% off Sky's Variety Bundle for 6 months, plus a £25 reward" for £106.05
The Variety bundle to a new customer: http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/variety-bundle/#!Entertainment-4
Is £16 per month for 6 months on this deal they are doing & then £32 after that.
Since it's already been halved, is that the price or would going through TopCashBack make it £8 for 6 months & £16 for the next 6 months?
I just wondered about that one that was all.
Q4: Back on the topic of installs, once you go through placing the order online, how do you then go about setting up an installation date (& typically how long do you have to wait)? Do you have to follow it up with a phone call or do they contact you?

Q1) I don't know but suspect that they don't.
Q2) They will bring a new dish.(The man said that our old one would have to stay in place ,as it required a special tool, and the new be placed beneath it, but he managed to remove the old one).
Q3)The half price for 6 months, then full price for 6 months is Sky's offer, the cashback sum being TopCashback's contribution.
Q4) The website promises 6 days. I can't comment on orders via the internet, as mine was done by phone, but I got a letter with the install date and an option to call if I wished to change it.0 -
Thanks.
I actually went through the process of placing the order last night & i could've had install date this weekend, either day it seems. That'll help big time.
Having a little bother with getting an aerial cable to the TV. I don't know which one i should be buying. Someone in the know would be able to do it in an instant.
Is this something Sky would likely do or would they not connect an aerial cable to the TV?
I have a splitter in the living room (see DIY forum), it just needs the appropriate cable connecting in to it & then in to the back of the TV.0 -
They will supply HDMI lead to connect SkyHD box to TV and assuming they fit a new dish, the fitter will run new cabling from the dish to the box.
If you want to connect the TV up to an aerial for terrestrial broadcasts, you will need to supply something like this

Hmm that could be a problem then.
Are they allowed to use existing cabling?
Only thing is we've had the living room tanked & the guys who did it said you shouldn't break the tanking (such as drilling through it).
So if they could use the existing Sky cabling that is run into the room already then that'd help.
Depends if computer says no I suppose.0 -
The installers are all usually amenable. They have no instructions before they arrive on site.
If for instance you wanted the Telly in a different place from where the current cable/cables come in they would accomodate.
The main problem I forsee is if the current installation is so old that you only have one Sky cable.
Have a look at the current dish and what comes of it.
All Sky main boxes require 2 cables.
To 100% get a new box get on your ladder and beat the "shiiittt" out of the current one.
Or a simpler method is telling the installer you may be considering multi-rooms in future. Then they will fit a dish with the ability to run 8 cables from it.0 -
They will feed the new cable through the hole made by the existing one.
My old Sky cable came through a basic hole with a just transparent plastic protector disc, but this hole was covered by the neat box used when my son had Virgin's forerunner's internet. The Sky man agreed to feed the new cable via this box.0 -

If it's an old dish, it's quite likely that a Mk 4 Octo LNB will not fit in the mount. From experience, I have found that Sky will automatically change out the dish as well.0

Sorry, my fault.
When i say old dish, i mean we bought it in 2013 (the house) & it's been in place since at least then. When it actually got installed is anyones guess.
Although there are 2 cables running in to the living room from it.
As for feeding it through the existing hole, well it's in behind the skirting which is all sealed up & that isn't going to come off just for a couple of new cables.
And if that makes computer say no then i'll be saying take your stuff back & i'll see how good BT are.
But i don't imagine it'd come to that. Surely the installer would just do it.0 -

By suggesting the route used by the old cable I was assuming that the old cable entered the room, but, in fact, the wire is sealed out of sight ?0
