Re music upload......I take it you are uploading them at high quality and not just MP3....If so, that could be what's taking time.

No, just standard MP3,

Irellevant now since I no longer have anything to upload them from! Fingers crossed I can get something sorted soon, thankfully everything is backed up.

I've had very slow uploads, and downloads, in Play Music - seems they throw as much server power at it as they thing 'free' deserves. Last week I did have a very fast/good experience of downloading a couple of big playlists though.

What is the download manager's transfer rate set to? Think it's automatically set to something stupidly slow...
Change it to unlimited in the Music Manager settings see if that makes a difference.

Yeah I figure it takes as long as it takes once they're up there it will just be uploading albums as and when I add them.

It seems you're not the only one with upload problems. I have had Google Drive suffer from a similar issue - it pretty much grinds to a halt if you leave it uploading a lot of files. Just google the problem to confirm you're not the only one...:)
No real answers though.

Good call, I forgot about that setting....:o
