PIP SDP and Housing Benefit?

Suppose somebody is < 35 but on DLA middle rate, so is entitled to Severe Disability Premium(SDP) and so is entitled to one bedroom rate housing benefit.

If somebody is on DLA Middle rate case and they move to PIP lower rate care, would they lose SDP and thus lose the one bedroom rate and then only get the shared rate housing benefit?

That sounds like really bad news if somebody has social issues.

No they wouldn't lose out, The claimant would be eligible for SDP on PIP. PIP works as Standard or Enhanced, Not lower, Middle or Higher... They are the same rates as Middle and Higher rate DLA.

    i don't think so:
Housing benefit if you have a disability

If you are disabled, the shared accommodation rate won't apply if you:

get the daily living component of a personal independent payment (PIP) or the armed forces independence payment

think you get 1 bedroom rate, if you are in receipt of PIP generally, but not 100%.

    hopefully someone can verify.

Do you have any textual source for that? Since a friend on DLA middle rate care asking about transfer to PIP, got this message "I can confirm that currently you are on the one bedroom LHA rate as you have a severe disability premium. Should you be assessed to a lower rate you will lose that premium and be put on the shared rate" from benefits AT gov.co.uk

i'd like a govt website saying that though, particularly since i've seen an email from benefits gov uk saying not.

There is no lower rate for PIP, I get PIP standard care... I also get SDP and housing benefit for a one bedroom flat. Along with ESA.

There are two rates of PIP care, higher and lower. That's a well known fact all over google. I shouldn't need to show you that there are two rates of care in PIP, see the first google result to a govt website e.g. https://www.gov.uk/pip/what-youll-get it says there are two rates of care in PIP.

I'm asking a technical question here. Whether i'd be entitled to SDP if I were to get the lower rate of PIP and i'm asking for a govt textual source to back that up. (not your subjective story or non govt websites) Particularly as I have an email from benefits gov uk saying not.

There is 2 categories for PIP, Daily Living Component and Mobility, Each category is defined as Standard care or Enhanced Care. I repeat there is no Lower, Middle or Higher of PIP. PIP Is a completely different benefit from DLA!

I'm not sure why you came here and asked for help or advice just to google everything. As PIP, ESA and SDP claimant, I know what i'm talking about! I've been round in cirlces with DWP in regards to benefits...

I get Daily Living Component of PIP which is £55.10 a week, I also receive SDP and ESA.... If you can't accept this then go phone DWP!

Thank you for that brain dump but it doesn't contradict anything I said and it doesn't answer my question.
