Orange cooling off period

Is there a cooling off period with Orange pay monthly?
Ive just bought a contract phone and while Ive been waiting for AOL to send me a MAC code (took over a week) Im sure the Orange offer has changed on their broadband.
Needless to say Im not happy with the new BB deal from Orange.
Ive not had the phone a fortnight and although my missus aint gonna be happy I realy gotta drop this like a hot brick.
Any advise please....

If you went into the shop then there is no cooling off period - sorry

Probably better to start a new thread in future rather than jump on the back of a 2 year old one

as above they had 14 day 2 years ago- thats long gone

no cancellation when bought in store
  • Just to confirm for Orange network:

Shop - no cooling off period
Telesales / Online (i.e. distance seeling where you have not had a chance to review the equipment you are purchasing) = 7 days for 2G devices and 14 days for 3G devices.

the above assumes all goods provided are in working condition with no reported faults.

  • I've received the following deal from Orange telesales last Monday:

    2 year contract
    free BlackBerry Bold 9700
    900 minutes
    unlimited texts
    unlimited web browsing
    unlimited BB data

I received the handset last Wednesday (10th Feb) and the delivery sheet says there is a 7 day cancellation period.

I have used the phone to make 1 phone call, send 1 text message, send 1 e-mail as well as use the BB messenger facility. I've also downloaded a few apps and browsed the web on the phone.

Am I right in saying that if I cancel the contract, return the phone etc I will only be charged for what I have used?

    Darren.

Yes, that's right. You'll be changed for X days rental depending on when you call them.
  • Hi thanks for all the info everyone, very helpful.

I have been a loyal Orange customer (4 years) and am unhappy with my new upgrade deal, I have read of new customers getting much better deals.

My Blackberry arrived this morning. Can I use it and return it tomorrow? What should I say is the reason for returning it?

To clarify I can return the handset and cancel the contract, but is 'not being rewarded for loyal custom' a good enough reason to say over the phone? Or do I have to make up that the reception is bad? (which is it is in my living room, have to leave the phone in the kitchen).

    thanks for any help
