Exactly what CCL says Bob - I am so sorry that things are so awful. I hope with every fibre of my being that things pick up for you - you certainly don't deserve the hand you've been dealt at the moment x

How very kind Kirsty. You guys are the best.;)

  • Ah Bob - I'm pleased that you have somewhere that you can get your thoughts in order - and I'm sorry that the support in real life isn't more available to you.
I watched a programme on telly once and one man on there said something that is so wise and I've never forgotten it. He said that hope can be a terrible thing because it's the last thing that you lose. It was a completely different situation but something I find to be very true. I'm similar to you in the way that I'm not a quitter and I quite often don't see how bad that things were until I'm out of the other side. I think of my own work situation last year, dh health etc. It's hard to get a clear perspective on things when you're in the middle of it all.
If you were to give it up - what would you do instead?

Thanks Cat. I can see that point on hope. I don't know about you but I find whatever your world view you will find sayings and collective wisdom to support it. It's very confusing.

What would I do instead? Good question.

I think what I need to work on is extending my own personal network of other self employed people. Because the role I am in at present is supporting my clients to do the things they need to do, listening to their worries and concerns and I couldn't possibly burden them in return. And it would be inappropriate. So my sounding board tends to be my husband...and it depends on his mood and feelings as to how he reacts. We had a really bad situation on Sunday and I came home fed up and stressed. I was surprised and delighted when he really came through for me on why the situation wasn't my fault and how I couldn't have done any more. But often I feel like it just brings him down too, so I end up saying nothing.

So positive goal, find more real life business support :)

Hi Bob - sorry I've been awol for the past week... Away in the far reaches of England where wifi does not seem to exist and mobile coverage is sparse. :D
So you have a goal to work towards with the business and I hope it is helping in some way, both business and personally.
You're right about the thinking styles by the way - you can always find evidence to support the thing that you're looking for. I can't remember what my therapist called it - the mental filter, or the sunglasses or something. Where you only hear the things that support your thoughts on something and ignore anything that doesn't.
