    I have size 8, 10, 12 and 14 in my wardrobe and in one place I needed a 16.
    That's 5 sizes !!!

Basically you need to try items on and ignore the labels.
For this reason I prefer to try things on in shops and not get suff from catalogues.
  • It depends on where the clothes are made. M&S clothes tend to be made in Turkey which means that the sizes are slightly different to clothes which are made in China for example.

If its any reassurance, its not you, its them!

i have problems in the same shop!

i can fit into 18/20 and 22 in Dotty P's

i have cords in 18 that are a tad too loose but fit ok. then the other day i brought some size 20 jeans in the sale (cos i had cos very loose size 22's belted up on at the time so figured 20 would be safest bet) got home and i can barely fit into them.
    its nuts.

i have been losing weight recently so wasnt surprised to drop down to 18 but then a 20 from the same shop to not fit.

ah well, they will fit in a month or so :)

Im finding all the petite stuff is a bit mad these days. Im 5'2" and m&s do trousers that are miles too long. Even though it clearly states for women 5'3" and under. The tops are way too short and look like they have shrunk in the wash. I gave up on D.P years ago, their petite range went the same way. I definately havent shrunk!

I just wear trousers with elasticated waists now, as had enough of trying to find the right size, plus they are more comfy!

Crazy, I have a small waist, with a bit of bulge underneath, and large thighs and calf muscles, I have trousers in my wardrobe from a 16 to 22!!
On top i'm big in the booby dept with a big back too and my tops go from 20 to 26.....hey ho.....

And on another point, why do some shops automatically believe that when you get to a size 20/22, the clothes can't be made any more?!! They just STOP...some of us large people do exist and don't want to be in a tent.....

And ANOTHER point.......my OH is what would be described as an XXL, on top, being broad, at the top end of 'mens' sizes. I would be an XXL in the womens world of sizes. You go into some lovely shops like, Fat Face, Animal, etc and the mens go up to XXL, he has no problems getting stuff. BUT THE WOMEN'S.... go up to size 16 which to be honest would fit a svelt 12!!!!GRRRRRRRRRRRR

    Rant over!

I dont bother with shops like La Senza in their sizing

M&S used to be a saviour in terms of bras but now their sizes have gone bonkers and even the biggest ones (if you can find them) dont fit comfortably at all.

And I though it was my whammers getting bigger and bigger not bras getting smaller and smaller, feel much better now!!! I'm the same with tops and bottoms a 14 will fit perfectly in one shop and in the next shop a 16 will be too tight, its very frustrating but somehow doesn't put me off shopping!! :D

Snap, feel quite relieved now lol:T

I'm about a 20 right now, having dropped 2 sizes recently, and am in the process of replacing all my 'out-shrunk' clothes (much better than outgrowing :D ).

Depending on where I shop, I'm anything from a 16 to a 26 and it is so annoying having to try on so many different sizes to get a good fit. I'd really hoped it would get easier the smaller I got.

I've had more or less the same experience. I've recently lost 3 stone and now I'm wearing size 24 jumpers from Evans and M&S but size 16 jumpers from BHS. I have trousers from M&S that are a 16 and fit fine and amazingly a skirt from Gap that's a 12! A bit tight but I've seen people wearing tighter!

I'm in a total muddle about it all now. What size am I?

Definitely a 12, and well done on the weight loss :T

However should you decide to lose a bit more weight, then you are a 24 now, and when you stop you are the smallest size you can then fit into ;)

    OK

    update on this.

Went to DP's today to have a look. Now according to my body measurements, and the information about their sizes on the website, I would be a size 16 there.

I see items I like, pick up a 16 in all of them, and go and try on.

    Trousers..... too tight
Jeans ........ correct fit on hips, too big on waist (or just below waist as they ones that sit low) so they gaped!
    Blouse......buttons bulged
a smock style top ........ to big, had to get a 14 ( so deffo bought this!)
trousers....... (different style to the first ones ) fit fine.
Cardi ....... was really tiny. had to get a size 20! bought this asit was so nice but will be chopping the label out!

So ended up with a size 14 top, 16 trousers, and a size 20 cardi!
    Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j
