Women's clothes sizing...arghh!

I dont bother with shops like La Senza in their sizing
M&S used to be a saviour in terms of bras but now their sizes have gone bonkers and even the biggest ones (if you can find them) dont fit comfortably at all.
Same with sizes, I am either a 12 or a 14 for bottoms, and even up to size 18/20 for shirts and/or jackets. it usually tends to be more like 16 for tops.
Dont get me started on dresses, I cant fit my bazoongas in most of them, or if I can, they just make me look like a cream puff (size 18 dress over a 12 bum?)."Don't cry, Don't Raise your Eye

I can let different shops away with different sizing, as annoying as it is you get used to it. Eg my stepdaughter is size 8 in topshop but 10-12 in River Island
I'm at the larger end of the scale and have problems within the same shop, Evans. They do have different ranges which varies in size eg Profiles was always the most generous and Seven the least.
But now the sizing is different within the same range. I've got a pair of size 24 jeans that are literally falling off me, they are Evans essence range, saw a similar pair in the sale same size, style and range, couldn't get them up over my thighs. Have also got a pair of 26's that fit perfectly0 -
Don't get me started.
Most clothes shops are unable to sell clothes that fit me.
This is because:
- I'm a AA cupand thereby, freakishly small, and most shops no longer stock AAs in my chest size.
- I have above average size hands, which are thereby freakishly large, and womens' gloves don't fit me.
- I have a big bum and a small waist. In Next, their 14s fit my bum and sag at the waist. Their 12s get stuck somewhere halfway up my thighs. None of the womens' Levi's fit me - I have to buy mens', or unisex.
- I am tall. Finding trousers that fit is murder, because I have freakishly long legs.
- I have size 8-9 feet. Shops never get enough size 8s in, and depend on the shop, they'll probably be too small anyway. They only ever stock hideous shoes in size 9, because only freakish women with bad taste have size 9 feet. This is why I have stacking toes. The only shoes I can wear comfortably are men's size 10 adidas trainers. (Ever tried looking for a size 9 women's trainer? Don't bother! You won't find them on the high street!)
Is it any wonder I have confidence issues? The stock in every shop I walk into seems to be designed for another species! :rotfl:My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

And I though it was my whammers getting bigger and bigger not bras getting smaller and smaller, feel much better now!!! I'm the same with tops and bottoms a 14 will fit perfectly in one shop and in the next shop a 16 will be too tight, its very frustrating but somehow doesn't put me off shopping!!Remember ....its not a bargain unless you need it0 -
Oh I know what you mean.
I have clothes in my wardrobe ranging from a size 14 to a size 18! I even bought the SAME trousers once from river island in the same size but just in different colours. One fitted and the other didn't!
And dont get me started on bras! I was measured by the M&S bra advisor and they told me what mu size was. I bought 2 bras in that size, one of which was fine, and the other was way out!
I NEVER buy anything now without trying on in the shop as as well as the disappointment of getting the item home and it doesnt fit, shops are also not obliged to refund it if it simply doesnt fit.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
Another problem - modern skirts and trousers often sit below the waist so there's not much room for error before they either pinch (and cause muffin top) or slip down. I just can't get it righht - hence lots of trousers and skirts destined for ebay or chrity shops. I got a great pair of trousers from gap with little buckle-fastened adjustor straps though.0

Ooh hallelujah, am not alone on this then!! Have learned over time to keep all my receipts safe in case I don't get to try the clothes out in the store first... i think some of the stores are psychologically aiming to make us feel better about ourselves by being somewhat bias with the sizes...but for me it's not flattering just annoying!! Please pick a standard and stick to it...please....I vary from a size 8 to a size 14...depending on the shop.....and a size 34C to 36E in the booby dept...I'm pretty sure menstruation doesn't cause THAT kind of swelling....0

Sizing in shops is just ridiculous! According to the next “sizing guide” in the back of their directory I should be a size 16. But when I actually try on their clothes I’m a 12.
M&S – I do not even bother shopping for clothes there any more, sometimes I’m a 12, then a 10 then a 14.
DP – not too bad on the sizing but I find that their quality isn’t too good.
River Island – I’m most definitely a size 16!!
It is just silly really and its quite demoralising when you go shopping and your size doesn’t fit.
And I refuse to go onto a diet!!0 -
I start with an 18 and see where im going today - I know that Topshop stuff never fits and like briggy I find that in Evans I can fit into a 16 in a skirt and then fly up to a 26 in jeans
I find that a lot of tops come up short (stop at the belly button rather than below), I use to think it was something that I didn't like but I was talking to a few mates the other day and they said the same.:j Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus :j0
