Oh dear I spent £11 this evening on a few drinks out after work as its my birthday tomorrow. It was lovely to enjoy the weather. I did stop myself buying food and I've come home to eat which is an improvement for me. I really need to get my budget under control next month. It was always going to be hard this month as I was in my OD quite a bit but I should be ok this coming month (I hope) as I already have lots of food in the freezer and I bought quite a few household items at the weekend which should last until September payday. I will have to spend money tomorrow as at work we buy sweets and cakes if it's your birthday. When I get paid I'm going to fill up my car and allow myself £50 a week for groceries and social spends. The next 2 weekends are paid for so its just the odd spend and then I intend to do at least one day of overtime on another weekend. I have listed another 2 items to sell :) my credit rating has already improved and it's now at 900 on Experian. I'm going to keep an eye out for better loan rates. It's currently 12.8% so even if I can reduce it a bit I should either be able to reduce my monthly payments or the length of the loan which will help me reach my DFD sooner.

Thank you all for the birthday messages. It's been a lovely long weekend and I still have today and tomorrow. Already feeling anxious at the thought of work on Tuesday and the complaints that will await me. My work wasn't reallocated so it's going to be really old. I am worried they will sack me or put me on an action plan as I can't cope with the volume of work at the moment but then I know other people are struggling too.

It's been very good on the money saving front. I got £50 for my birthday which I'm going to use to visit my nan in Cheshire at the end of September as its a long drive from the south.

I spent a £3 on Friday for some bits towards the bbq and then spent £18 on lunch with my friend yesterday. I hadn't seen her in ages so it was worth the expense. I've not spent anything else on food this weekend. I've put fuel in the car and I'm on track for my £50 a week budget for groceries and social spends :)

Sorry to mention work, Flowers but surely you are entitled to take annual leave, and got it approved before you did so? So it did not come as a surprise to your employer, who should ensure there is sufficient holiday cover to allow for vacations in the summer, surely? How is it your fault if your manager cannot manage? I do remember what it is like but that does not make it fair or right. You cannot be in two places at once.

If you do get grief from management/colleagues maybe think about starting another thread on the employment board? Sangie595 is an absolute whizz at employment law... I think she might be an employment lawyer, iyswim.

There may be complaints from customers but you will just have to deal with them or refer them to your manager, who can then explain why they failed to make adequate provision for staff absences they authorised. Fret not, you don't want to work there anyway, from what you said. Just keep looking for something in your preferred location and saving the pennies to give yourself the best chance, when you find something, of moving to a really nice house.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your week end, birthday girl!

Evening Smodlet. Thank you for your message :) i had the holiday approved by my old manager before some of the big changes happened. New managers were aware I was off but said there was no one else to give the work to :(

I have applied for a few jobs today which I'm hoping I will get interviews for. I have signed up to notifications for new jobs being listed so I plan to check this most days and sign up with a recruitment agency in the area I want to be in.

I used the eligibility checker on this website to see if I would get a loan at a better rate and I've been approved with my main current account provider for a loan and it's £75 a month cheaper due to less interest being paid. Due to the current situation with my employment I'm going to save this extra £75 along with the £50 I am planning to save anyway so I have an EF if something goes horribly wrong. Once I've got to £900 I will then use the extra £75 to pay off my CC's first before continuing to battle the loan debts.

Better get some sleep before tomorrow's impending doom of complaints and unhappy customers :(
