Time to sort my finances out

I've had to come home from work early. Feeling extremely rough and woke up with the biggest migraine ever this morning. I've had some painkillers and I'm feeling slightly better. I think its the stress of everything plus I'm a major worrier about things that haven't even happened.
Would have been a NSD but I had to get a few things from the chemist so £2.50 spent there.
Slightly annoyed. My DD for CC2 has been taken twice which means I'll be dipping into my overdraft again this month. Not by loads but I think this means I get charged the £6 fee even though I'm only £12 in it. Never mind it's loads better than last month as I was around £220 into it and I've managed to clear it within a month
hopefully next month I can save a bit and pay over the minimum to my CC's :beer:0 -
Hey, Flowers, what about the DD guarantee? If you are absolutely certain the amount has been taken twice in error and not for some legitimate reason (you didn't miss a month, did you?) then just tell the bank to refund it to you. I would contact the CC company as well and, if the bank tell you they "can't" refund it until they recover the money from the CC co., just quote the "DD guarantee" to them, if you think it's a good idea, of course.
Hope you feel better soon... and get that spending back under control. The chemist does not count, that is a necessity. Thinking of you.0 -
Just woken up and feelings loads better

Oh I didn't know that Smodlet. I will check my CC statement to check the DD's have both gone through. It's strange, they took one payment and then another a few days later. It's only the minimum amount so it's not too bad but annoying as I hadn't budgeted for it. Going to have a proper look at my budget once I'm paid and work out to the penny what I have available to spend for September.
I really want to update my signature again

What a wet miserable day it is.
Feeling loads better today but I'm going to give overtime a miss this weekend and concentrate on my health.
I've just had a bath and sorted my hair so feelings loads better already. Fresh fruit for breakfast and cup of tea
I've been clearing out my purse and handbag and found a John Lewis voucher for free tea and cake so I may pop up there later as it gets me out the house. I've also come across a voucher to have my nails done which in going to save.
Going to a friends house tonight and we are going to watch a film and have a natter.
Shouldn't spend any money today other than fuel which is already in my car.
I've counted up all my change bad I have nearly £5 so I'll pop this in the bank on Monday.
I have enough food for breakfast and evening meals to last until payday but I don't have anything to take to work. We don't have a microwave at work so I can't reheat anything which doesn't help with the money saving.:beer:0 -
Managed a NSD so far

I had a free cake and tea in John L*wis this afternoon and went to the jewellers where I bought my watch from as its ticking funny. They wanted to charge £85 just to check the pressure chamber, I swear it's just the battery as it's just over 2 years old so I will compare quotes.
Lovely day apart from a big bust up with the ex boyfriend. I've told him we can't remain friends anymore and we need to stop speaking. He's not happy and went off on one which has resulted in me blocking him. It will be a god send if I do get the job. Should hopefully hear next week.
I was suppose to go to a friends tonight but she's cancelled on me so I will have an early night and watch some rubbish on tele

Hi Flowers, sorry to hear your evening/day has been spoilt. I'll be checking in regularly to see how you're doing and hear your news about the job.
I hope you enjoy your evening. Well done on keeping the spending down. Good for you.0 -
Well I went to do some washing in my new machine and realised I was completely out of washing powder and fabric softener. Oops, must make sure I check what I have available so I can keep track and budget for it. I went to @sda to grab some things for work and the washing powder etc. £25 spent which is more than I wanted to spend but I'm stocked up now. I've checked my bank and I'm £40 into my overdraft. This is better than last month as I was around £200 in.
I get paid this week so going to have NSD's until then.
For September I'm going to budget £50 a week for groceries and other spends and then £50 for the whole month for fuel. I am going to budget just £25 to go into my savings as I need to pay back my £40 OD I have used this month. This leaves me with enough to make a bit of an overpayment to my CC :j
It feels like slow progress but my debt is reducing. Roll on December 2020 when I'll be debt free :T:beer:0 -

Not much to report today. A NSD as it will be until payday. I did withdraw £4 from one of the survey sites which all helps. Not heard back from my old employers regarding the interview but they are notoriously slow on letting people know the outcome. 2 more days at work this week then going home for a long bank holiday weekend and it's my birthday
closer to 30 now than 20 which is scary! :beer:0 -
My new hobby is reading everyone's diaries on this forum! It's keeping me motivated. However, i am such a worrier and have been thinking about if I ever lost my job for whatever reason! Even if I make the tiniest mistake I get worried I'll be sacked on the spot. I used to have a higher paid job and I don't think I was ever as stressed out as I am now! As soon as I have sorted my budget out and I know I can stick to it easily I'm going to set up another EF for major emergencies like a job loss. I know I could always pick up shop or bar work very easily if it came to it but it would still be a drop in wages. I've worked out If I ever lost my job (I work in financial services so there is always a high risk) then I would need a buffer of around. £400 a month if I found a job straight away on minimum wage so I will aim for £900 to start with towards my major EF. Sounds dramatic but you never know these days plus my current employer seems to have put a stop to recruiting even though we currently have work coming from all angles. I better get some sleep.
